View Full Version : Why Even Offer These Tickets?

My brother called me about 2 hours ago, and offered me a ticket with him to the Cavs-Celtics game tomorrow night in Cleveland. 8 PM.

I have prior commitments, exactly, the chic is throwing a work/party at her house before leaving the country for 2 weeks. Kind of have to go to that. Can't get off of work either...

But here is the kicker.

The ticket with him is in the second row directly across from the home bench. Those are his season tickets apparently.

So I'm pissed. Why in the Hell would you offer a ticket to someone who lives 4 hours away, one day before the game, knowing that they cannot get off of work the next day? Especially tickets like that? Dammit. And I say this not liking the NBA at all.

F. F in the A.

I HATE dayton.

Find a way. Seeing the future best player in the history of the game in that kind of environment is a situation that no one should miss if they had the opportunity.

One of his final games as a Cavalier...maybe

Exactly, especially since he won't be in Ohio too often anymore after this season.

This would have been a great chance for Thor to take his man card back from "chickey".

Who is the Chickey here?

Thor, are you on your cycle?

I couldn't make it just based on time anyhow. The game would end about 10:30, which means I wouldn't get out of there until 11:30 or so, getting back here at about 3:30-4AM, and be at work at 7. That would not be good.

I wish I hadn't even heard about the tickets in the first place.

I HATE dayton.

Tell your brother that the Masterofreality will be happy to take your place.

Just let me know where and when.

By the way, now you know how tough it is for guys in Cleveland to get to XU games in Cincinnati, but we try to find a way.

Honestly, I think the only way he leaves is if he has a burning desire to play in NY. Other than that, I think he'll be back. (Although a max deal with Chicago would be tempting...playing with Rose would be SICK!)

Cheese, you been asleep at the puter for the last year? Thor's GF "Chickey" (aka The Chickey, and Cornell grad extraordinaire) has him on a short leash/by the short hairs when he's not at the firehouse, if rumor an innuendo are reliable. The rewards for such inconveniences are said to be well worth his while.

LBJ is also accepting his MVP trophy tonight. I understand you cannot miss work and what not, but if I were you, I'd bail on that party, go to Cleveland, get back to Cincy at 4am and just sack up tmrw at work. I saw LBJ a two Thursdays ago in Chicago, and even though i was in the 300 level, it was an awesome experience. I can only imagine what it would have been like 2nd row in Cleveland on MVP ceremony night. You gotta find a way!

I thought most firefighters have ample time to sleep off long road trips from Cleveland anyway. Just tell the rest of the guys to go to Kroger without you, and you handle things back at the fire house.

You are overthinking this big time. I don't say this to people often, especially those I like, but Go To Cleveland!

I think it all depends what happens these playoffs. If the Cavs don't make it to the NBA finals I put it at an 85% chance he leaves.

I had an offer for tickets to game 2 of the 1990 World Series that I passed on for what seemed to be really good reasons at the time. I stlil regret that.

You should go Thor.

That's not really how it works, but I get the gyst.

I don't really regret not going. I don't care enough about the NBA to worry about it. It just sucked that my brother would offer the ticket so late before the game. Now, as MOR noted, if this had been an X game, it would have been a no brainer.

I WILL be going up there for the Hornets-Cavs game next year though. Should have done it this year...
