i believe this is a first. mark macon has just signed a two year extention to remain binghamton's 'INTERIM' head coach. never before has an interim coach signed a contract and still remained an interim coach, at least not that i can recall...

Actually, Hugh Devore signed two contracts to be the interim football coach at ND. The first time was after Ed McKeever (also an interim coach) left for Cornell in 1945 and the second time was when Terry Brennan was fired in 1963. He served one year then also until being replaced by the Era of Ara.
