I recently picked up a new HDTV set and subsequently exchanged cable boxes with Time Warner so I could get all their HDTV channels. Problem is, the way the cable box and my DVD player are configured, I don't have a Cable Out (just a Cable In) on my HD box like I did for my old digital box. Right now, I've got a set of component cables running out from my HD cable box into my TV; I've got a regular set of A/V cables running out of my DVD player into another outlet in my TV.
Any thoughts on how I can get the cable signal to go from my cable box into my DVD player?

You should be able to take another AV cable and connect one end into the video output/audio output jacks in the back of the cable box and connect the other end of the AV cable into the video in/audio in jacks on the back of the DVD player.

I did try to connect another set of component cables out from the DVD player into the cable box. But once I did a test recording on the DVD player, all I got was static on the DVD player.
That, and Philips customer service sucks ox balls as well.

Is there are video out option on your TV? I can't remember for sure offhand, but I'm pretty sure my HDTV has a regular RCA audio/video out jack.
My guess is that your component cables coming out of the back of your DVD would be output jacks only.
Do you have the Warner HD DVR box? If so, be ready to reboot that sucker about once a day for the first several weeks you have it.

Good call on rebooting the cable box - the picture was completely black last night around 8:00 or so. (although the channel guide still worked).
I've got a bunch of A/V connections that can lead into the TV, but none that I can see that are labeled video out. I do see some audio output (coaxial, optical) in the back, though.
