Career suicide. He should wait for something better to come along.

agree to a point. ninety percent of the time jobs like that open up because something is wrong. in the grand scheme of things, bc isn't as broken as most. having said that, if they got rid of al skinner for one losing season after making seven ncaa tournaments in ten years, that's probably not the kind of place you want to be at. what a stupid decision. mooney is better off at richmond. i'd say he's got a better chance at building a perinnial top 25 caliber program if for no other reason than they're willing to be patient with him.

al skinner will only be unemployed as long as he wants to be. wherever he goes next will be fortnuate to have him.

DeFilippo gets process going
He interviews two for basketball job

INDIANAPOLIS — One of the many sideshows of Final Four Week is the feeding frenzy in the coaches’ hotel about jobs that are already open or about to open. Some athletic directors looking for coaches choose to set up shop and conduct interviews, or at least meet potential candidates to set up future interviews.

Boston College athletic director Gene DeFilippo, now looking for a men’s basketball coach to replace Al Skinner, chose to do his business closer to home. Yesterday, DeFilippo was in Boston, conducting off-campus interviews with Fairfield coach Ed Cooley and Cornell coach Steve Donahue.

Cooley and Donahue are two of the names on DeFilippo’s short list of initial candidates. Richmond coach Chris Mooney is expected to interview today, and Northeastern coach Billy Coen should be next on the list. Coen, who has been at NU for four years and was at BC for nine years as an assistant to Skinner, confirmed that BC had called him to set up an interview for next week.
