It sounds cliche, but I could not be more proud of this team. They proved to be one of the best teams in the country. We should have won that game. We were the better team tonight reguardless what the final score says.

You beat me to it. From 1000 miles away I heard and saw so much fantastic basketball from this group of women. It is a season I'll never for get, and 4 NCAA games that will live in xavier lore for all time.
Thank you Coach McGuff and staff, thank you Amber, Ta'Shia, April, Mo, Special, Dee Dee, Katie, April, Mossy, Alesia.
We live our lives through you people for a few months every year, I am a happier person for it. Can't wait to start all over again!
I'll be able to puff out a little bit bigger, and say I am a Xavier Musketeer!

and Jason Love:

Agreed on all accounts. My family really got into the Women's team this year and we plan to be that much more involved next year.
Once again, proud to be a Musketeer when the national limelight was shining on Xavier.
Way to go Ladies!

i can't imagine how dissapointed the team must feel. they should be proud, and over time it's the feeling of pride that they'll remember, but for now the dissapointment must be overwhelming. as fans you want your team to win because you feel a personal connection as a fan, but a big part of you really wants it for them as well as wanting it for yourself. i wanted it for them. they played well enough to get there and i hate it for them that they didn't. i couldn't possibly be more proud of them. the result of the game had nothing to do with that. i just hate it for them that they didn't quite get there.

That was a great basketball game to watch. I feel for the ladies. Every team comes to the same end except one. It sucks when you are done dancing.
They had a great season and a great tournament. They were so close, and that only brings more pain. You can taste it and feel it and then it is all gone. Hell of a game to watch.
They could win the whole thing next year.
Great, great game, ladies! You made us all proud!

Same thing happened with my family this year, and I will be sure to follow women's hoops as closely as possible from hear on out. The certainly deserve it. And we still get T and Special back next year, and possibly Amber. Don't forget about a pretty good recruiting class either.
One thing that I didn't like was how on the final play, Special decided to go for the steal instead of stay in front of the girl that won the game. That is one move that can really piss off a coach. It worked several times against Gonzaga, but that wasn't the case tonight. That may have been the killer on the last play.

Fixed it for you.
But great season Women. Stanford is clearly the 2nd best team in the country, and you guys played like you were the 2nd best team in the country. You guys never gave up. Great great season

I am very proud of this team as well. Many gave them no chance to do well in this tourney, but they proved them wrong. Pulling out the victory against Vandy, pummeling Gonzaga in the 2nd half, and basically having Stanford beat. Tough loss to end it, but GREAT season Ladies!

I am very proud, and as I mentioned on another thread I truly feel the ladies are one fo the very best teams in the country this year. They had Stanford on the ropes and just couldn't finish the job. They'll be back...I think this program is going places!

You ever just sit there after a game and feel like you were blind-sided by a semi?

X vs Gonzaga, X vs Ohio State, Bengals vs Broncos
Runners up - X vs KState, X vs Pitt, X vs Duke
*Whats the common theme in the majority of the above games?
- One Gus Johnson

I've always said Gus is the soundtrack to the most painful moments of my sporting existence. You just proved my point.

Sure I am proud but we had that game, at the very least we had a tie and OT. great season but we gave this one away.

I think the worst part about it all is knowing that since Dee Dee is a senior, her final memory of playing basketball is going to be those misses. I have a pit in my stomach just thinking about that.
Let me reiterate what I said in another post, Dee Dee keep your head up! Without you the team would not have been where they were!

I too am heartbroken for this team, to be so close, to taste the final four. I couldn't help but think all night how the girls must feel. I couldn't be more proud, I hope they can get past the dissapointment. They had a great season and no one gave them the credit they deserved. I'm also proud of the fans for stepping up and telling them this rather than critiziseing them and the coaching staff for what could have been. They left it all out on the court last night and you can't ask for anything else. One person can't be blamed for the loss. I really hope Amber will come back next year it would make for an exciting year. Looking forward to next season
