Not that it wasn't going to already, but our ladies can take a huge step toward locking up the No. 2 tourney seed with a win Saturday against Temple.
Owls put it to Charlotte this afternoon in Philly. Ashley Morris nailed 7 3s and scored 32. Shanae Cotton with 16 inside.
Just 10 points for Danielle Burgin, 9 for Tracy Ray outside and Sabrina Gregory held to 6 for Charlotte.
Temple now 7-1 and Charlotte 5-2 in conference.
If our ladies are serious about taking a step forward, it's time to rise to the occasion
LET'S GO X!

I hope this isn't the beginning of a hot streak for Morris. Really the key to beating Temple is being able to shut her down. The thing that worries me is that she's going to have the experience edge on everyone who tries to defend her whether it is Special, Jerri, etc.
I'm not really sure what to make of this result because Charlotte has been pretty mediocre all year. X will need to be ready, though. This game could go a very long way in securing at at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Here's a link to the Temple wrap up and box if interested. 4 pt game at the half before Morris erupted for 25 of her 32 in the second half. Entire team scored 36 in that same frame. I would imagine that Amber would match with Cotton. Not sure about Morris. Jerri would be my best guess. I dont remember her makeup, ie is she overly quick, if not, just thinking maybe a taller defender could assist in derailing her shooting since she's a smaller type guard, provided they can keep up with her pace. Interesting that both of them more than doubled their season average in that game. Could have been a match up problem for Charlotte, or simply one of those days for them. Will certainly be interesting come Saturday. Temple-XU is usually a knock down-drag out affair.

Not so much worried about Special or Aleshia or Jerri on the defensive end. That's one element of each of their games that's fairly solid. The other item to consider is that Morris is converting from a two-guard to the point, so she can be exposed and hopefully X will force some turnovers.

Nice call. Morris had 8 TO's and XU outscored Temple 18-14 in pts off turnovers.

Thanks for recognizing. Every once and while you get one right!
Didn't realize the turnover total. Morris made some really nice passes. She had five assists and good ones at that.
