The Pontiff doesn't know how he'll be able to make it through the rest of the tournament.
Shedding Muskie-tears over the losses of ND and Gtown. Can only hope that Marquette joins the party.

Let's bring those long knives out. Great tourney so far!

Man, I wish 'Nova had taken their rightful place at this party. They deserved to be there with ND, G'town, and Marquette.

Are you telling me Marquette couldn't win the Pac-10?!
Are you telling me Notre Dame couldn't win the Colonial?!
Are you telling me Georgetown couldn't win the MAC?!

Add the following:

South Florida- NIT Loser
St. Johns- NIT Loser
Seton Hall- NIT Loser

UCon barely beat Northeastern at home.

Oh, yeah. B-Espn will just forget about all of this before next November.

Don't you know? It's the rigors of the Big Least. It takes so much out of these guys to compete at such a high level night in and night out.

They were tired. Those little teams were fresh because they don't play anyone all year.

I am sure someone will say this tomorrow.

After watching Ohio beat Georgetown earlier it wouldn't surprise me if Oakland gave Pitt a hellava game tomorrow!

They already started up with this lame excuse last night. I had to choke back vomit from spewing onto my television.

It's just silly. They tout the Big East as a super-conference and that the rigors of the conference battle test them for the NCAA Tournament, but then three of four teams lose on opening day, and the conference is now too difficult to beat the MAC champion.

Just wanted to clarify.

Gottlieb was filling in for Golic on the Mike and Mike show this morning. He called out the Big East as overrated, and said part of it is where many of the broadcasters come from, and part of it is the ESPN hype machine because of their contract.

He also just said Robert Morris got screwed by the officials against 'Nova. He is absolutely correct on that point.

Look out at the Big East Pity Party - the Villanova team is walking in the front door as we speak.

And they lost to 8 seed, 10 seed, 11 seed, 11 seed, and 14 seed.... not like they are getting beat by teams ranked in the top 25 all year.

Looks like another groom got cold feet. The Jayhawks are joining 'Nova at their pals at the party.

'Course, you know what were going to hear about every five minutes or so on CBS tonight...

Yeah, we'll hear about how good Syracuse, WVU and Pitt are. Those other BE teams were just worn out after having to battle such great, great teams during the conference schedule. What a joke.

Let me just resurrect this thread from LAST year to give even more perspective to the Poseur League's performance this year.

In 2011- only 2 out of 11 Big Greased teams left after the first weekend- both of them because they were able to beat another Big Least team.

Tourney record so far: 9-9 despite having 4 walkover games. ND blown out by Florida State tonight. Meanwhile the teams that the B-Espn talking heads continually demeaned- VCU- has won 1/3 as many games by itselfas the 11 Big Least teams have won collectively.

This is the biggest con job of a league's toughness that has ever been perpetrated on the public. Please, objective national media. Please call B-Espn and this charlatan publicity machine to task. It has been proven that that league games the RPI, will refuse to play true non-conference road games and continually now fails miserably in the post season Dance.

Tell it like it is, MOR. Con job, indeed, and ESPN faces criminal indictments on conspiracy charges.

Very difficult to watch ND get flushed down toilet. Very difficult to keep a straight face as Pontiff writes this.

Much schadenfreude in Papal Apartment tonight. Pontiff should go to confession about this. But then Pontiff would have to hear his own confession, and that would lead to lead to confessor and penitent laughing and talking loudly and then yelling "Suck it, Notre Dame."

"“The body of work that our schools created over the course of the year certainly overshadows what happens in the tournament,” (Big East) Marinatto said. “In the tournament, you have to get lucky, you have to be fortunate. Everything has to come together.”

Really? The Big East spin is out of control. Regular season more important than the postseason?

Child please.

There's "luck" involved? That's not what I was told by UC fans when they reached their only Final Four in most of our lifetimes without playing a higher seed.

These things are always funny. We're prone to it as well. When you achieve something--even one time--it's complete, 100% proof of your success. It's 100% meaningful. When you don't--it's really not that meaningful.

Reminds me of summer league. When a player on your team is tearing it up, it's clear evidence that he's going to be an impact player. When he's not, don't forget, summer league means nothing.

I will say this ... When you have 11 teams, the vast majority of which were favored in their games, and only 2 are left standing after the first weekend, there is some evidence that your conference was over-thought-of. Or, they choked.

"Luck" simply doesn't fully explain the Big East's level of underachievement, though there is always some "luck" (Geek Translation: "noise") involved.

Despite all of this, you know that come next year, every chance that B-Espn will have to hype that league will occur.

A) Every college game broadcast will have at least two flashes of the current Big East Standings with the accompanying "the league is just incredible" statement- even if the broadcast is of a Mountain West Conference game.
B) Every Big East game will appear on some form of the 4 letter networks stations.
C) The UCon women will have more main ESPN channel telecasts than the entire A-14 men's teams.
D) The Pre-season ESPN coaches poll will have at least 7 Big East teams listed.

Meanwhile, that superstar stud Hasheem Thabeet has just been waived to the D-League by Houston. Seems to me that I remember that he was pumped to be the next Kareem Abdul Jabbar by Espn.

Yep. Nothing but objectivity.
