How is it we finish #5 in the AP and get a 3 seed, not a 2??

Too few top 25 wins (only Middle Tennessee)

Going in, Xavier was the lowest of the projected 2 seeds (along with Duke, Ohio State, and Notre Dame). Texas A&M vaulted into the 2 line with the Big 12 Tournament championship and an upset of then-unbeaten Nebraska.
Just be thankful they're not in UConn's region.

Yup, very expected, a 3 seed is a great thing for an A-10 team.
Know nothing about East Tennesee, but Vandy,,,,,,,,, that'll be a real battle, their guards vs our bigs

I think what is interesting is that they are actually seeded as the worst of the #3 seeds. It looks like they went on RPI only as XU is #11 in the RPI and so far all seeds have gone exactly as their RPI numbers have.

Not a great placement. Not only are we the "last" number 3 seed which I don't get but we are with Texas A&M and Stanford. That is really tough. That's not to mention Melanie Balcomb and Vandy.
Tough tough draw for the ladies. They'll just have to get it done!

The Vandy game is the first one on sunday, XU goes at 2:30.

DePaul's no stranger to the NCAAs, either. Vandy better not look past them in the 1st round.

As for the rest of the A-10, UD got their first NCAA invite (as an 8 seed against TCU) and Temple also draws an 8 seed (with UConn looming in Round 2).

It certainly looks as if the committee wasn't impressed by the A-10 this year, although they did let 3 teams in. They just didn't seem impressed with Xs sweep.

True...But Stanford is unbelievable at 31-1... 1 loss to UConn by 12 and thats it. Road to the final four goes through the Cardinal

I honestly don't believe it could be any tougher except maybe UConn, but I'd rather have played UConn in Dayton then travel to Cali to play Stanford.
Kansas City or Memphis would have been SOOOOOOOO much better.

Like Bob Knight says, there really is not much difference between a 2 or 3 seed.

no offense or anything cause i dont watch much of womens basketball...but does it really even matter at all? UConn is gonna win the whole thing and the only way they lose is if all of their players get hurt

To be honest, the 3 seed seems about right to me. The teams we lost to — Michigan State, Michigan and LSU — are all well behind us (both in RPI and the rankings), and two of those losses were at home. And some of the wins that looked good early — Kansas, Arizona State, Minnesota — have turned out to be less impressive than they originally seemed. A 3 seed seems pretty fair to me. And like everyone is saying, the difference between a 2 and a 3 seed is minimal. You just don't want to be a 4, because then you'd bump into a 1 seed a round earlier.
