But they didn't deserve to advance.
I can't believe that is their version of basketball.
Pass it to Born Ready and watch the magic happen.

Dion Dixon, ladies and gentlemen, is the real hero for WVU. His inability to hold onto the ball in a pressure situation cost him and his team the game. I knew that as soon as WVU got the ball, it would be over on any shot. It was even sweeter that it was a bank shot.

That was one terrible basketball game. I didn't watch all of it, but I watched a good part of it. I'm assuming that was an off night for WVU but either way I am not scared of them, particularly as a likely 2 seed.

Actually, I don't think WV is all that good. They got spanked by Purdue earlier in the year, they lost by nearly 20.
In all, I think the Big East is playing horrible basketball right now. From top to bottom, the conference just plain sucks. The only team that looked good coming into the tournament just lost their starting center.
Whooo hoooo! Whenever UC's season ends its like a second Christmas for me!!

Dixon did his best Charles Williams (was that his name?) imitation at the end there.
What a great way to wake up in the morning!

I had the same thought. That was a great game (Ours, not the game last night)

Big East basketball tournament has been one giant mugging. They don't call fouls. UC's best chance to win is in an envoronment like that where skill doesn't have to be a major factor. If the games are called like that in the NCAA tournament we may be in trouble. I could see Brad Redford being very handy against teams like that stretching their zones out so they can't collapse in the middle on defense.

I liked one commentator's remark during a Big East Tourney game yesterday: "No autopsy --- no foul!"

That was my exact thought.
"No autopsy, no foul" is funny as hell and really sums up this tournament.
There is no way NCAA Tournament games will be called this way. If these BE teams bring this act to the Dance they'll foul out. The best coaches among them will be emphasizing the need to tone it down for the Dance.
The kids with the mops/brooms burned a lot of calories last night; they were on the floor a lot, wiping up the areas where bodies had been strewn from the rugby game that broke out.

Chuck Machock to appear on Letterman tonight (http://cincinnati.com/blogs/tv/2010/03/11/letterman-makes-fun-of-chuck-machock-friday-night/)... well, not really.
I've heard about this incident, but I've never actually seen it. Anyone have a video link?

For anyone who needs a pick-me-up after today's game, here's an update (http://cincinnati.com/blogs/tv/2010/03/13/how-dan-hoard-got-letterman-to-rip-on-chuck-machock/) (with video) (http://www.cbs.com/late_night/late_show/video/?pid=_i4DT13qCCFQe3PF8gi3c_L5G3CuN5AO) on Letterman making fun of Machock. Apparently Hoard had prompted the gag, and during it Letterman included some Cincinnati references.
The Top Ten List also was "Top Ten Signs Your Team Isn't Ready for the NCAA Basketball Tournament." But no mention of one of the signs being that your coach is a Yellow-Toothed Gnome.
