What if Dayton becomes one of the two teams named for the Play In Game and they have to play in their own back yard for the privilege of playing #1? Wouldn't that be fun!

That would be awesome and they would proudly discuss how the NCAA must love them. "They selected us because we are the best host and we were good in the 60's." I would also love it if they lost to Bethune-Cookman of our lady of the worthless miracles on fourth street.

dayton can't play in the game if they're the host team, even if they are the 65th team on the s curve.

I thought that there were two specific conferences that played in the play in game? I'm probably wrong though.

Definitely not two specific conferences, though it should generally be the MEAC vs. the SWAC, and they could call it the HBCU Classic. Probably wouldn't fly in the HBCU circles.

Morgan State out of the MEAC is actually decent this year, so they probably get a 14 or 15.

Play-in game should be the last two bubble teams that get in.

It's just more BCS BS that puts two teams that earned the right to play in the tourney against each other.

Oh wait...it's not the "play-in" game....it's the opening round...whatever.

Living perilously close to dayton, and working even closer, I would love to see a Wright State vs. UD matchup in the first round of the NIT... That would rile a few people's feather here up north.

Add more fuel to that fire and have the gave be at Nutter, although I'd have to objectively say UD would be the higher seed in that pairing. Particularly after that fine display of basketball put on by Wright State last night with the ESPN cameras shining brightly on them.

Then again the game was at Hinkle, and I think in the post game comments the Wright State team was complaining about the lack of drinking water in the locker room... (Too soon?)

actually, they don't pair up the meac and swac, even when it is painfully obvious that they should. it's like an unwritten rule or something...

it seems to me that more often than not the last two teams in aren't bcs teams...at least not both of them. personally, i'd rather see it go back to 64, but i think there is a much better chance of seeing it go up to 68 than down to 64.

Not unless an auto-bid conference folds. The Great West Conference will be eligible for an auto-bid next year, I think, increasing the field to 66. The NCAA will never reduce the number of at-large bids, only increase it.

I think XU should play at NC A&T, their fans really bring it every night (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5LodH9-N6w).

But as a man whose final two college choices after leaving the USMC were Grambling St. and Xavier, I would highly recommend watching some HBCU basketball and football. There is really nothing quite like it.

Jerry Eaves (Louisville legend) is the head guy at NC&T. I'd love to see Jerry bring his guys to Cintas.

I think it takes at least 3 or 4 years for a conference to be eligible for an automatic bid (has to be a minimum of 7 teams in the same conference for a sustained time period); this is year 1 for the Great West conference.
