Hi Fordham Hoops Fans,
I wanted to thank you all for the great turnout last Wednesday night for
the St. Bonaventure game. The white-out was a great success and I loved the
buzz and energy of our students in the crowd. I expect your energy and
presence to be a staple of our program in years to come. Last week was the
first step for us having the best student section in college basketball.
With our last home game coming up lets try and pack Rose Hill once again.
We will be giving the first 500 students in attendance a free Fordham
basketball jersey or tee-shirt. We want our students to feel like a part of
our basketball family.
Please come join us for Senior Day at 7:00 pm on Wednesday night as we take
on the Xavier Musketeers. Seniors Matt Beck and Herb Tanner have been
quality student-athletes and great representatives of Fordham University. I
am proud of their accomplishments both on the court and in the classroom.
They deserve a great send off from their home crowd. Please come pack Rose
Hill as we say goodbye to two of your classmates who have given you a great
four years of basketball memories.
Fordham Basketball is on the rise and it is very important to me that our
students are a part of it. Hope to see you all on Wednesday night in a
sold-out Rose Hill gym.
All the best,
Coach Jared Grasso
Not quite the passion that we heard from Coach Mack. I really hope what he says in here is true about trying to make Fordham one of the best student sections in college basketball, and the energy and passion for years to come. I wish Fordham would drop out of the league as much as the next guy but if that isn't going to happen, the next best thing is to see them actually try to be a quality program.

Hell, if they get 500 people in there it would be classified as a sell out...Shit hole gym!

This is the funniest damn post EVER! I nearly fell off my chair reading it.
You totally made that up right?
"Please come pack Rose Hill as we say goodbye to two of your classmates who have given you a great four years of basketball memories."
This is the funniest line of the whole thing. Classic. Laughing my ass off right now.
Thanks for post. Reps coming.

Per ZagsBlog.....
Whittenburg Not a Candidate for Wagner Job; Coaching Carousel Still Spinning;
Wagner athletic director Walt Hameline said the school is in the process of taking resumes for the men’s basketball coaching vacancy created by Monday’s firing of Mike Deane and that he hoped to have a decision made “toward the end of the month.”
“We’re taking resumes,” Hameline said Wednesday morning by phone. “Obviously, we’ll see who’s applying and then there will be a committee put together on campus. Hopefully by the end of the month we’ll get people on campus.”
Asked when he hoped to make a decision, Hameline said, “I’m looking somewhere toward the end of the month.”
The Staten Island school has received nearly 50 applications, but has not gotten one from former coach Dereck Whittenburg, who was fired at Fordham Dec. 3.
Whittenburg would consider the Wagner job if offered, a source with direct knowledge said.
This contradicts my earlier post where I wrote that Whittenburg would return to his former school. (Sometimes you make mistakes and you’ve got to own up,)
Whittenburg, 49, is currently doing some TV work for Comcast and is exploring his options for the future.
His career record is 135-162, including a 66-50 mark during four seasons at Wagner.
Meantime, Fordham interim coach Jared Grasso, who replaced Whittenburg, ends his season on Friday and expects to remain as the head coach next season.
“Once the season ends, the school’s search will commence,” a source close to the situation said. “They’ll decide if there will be other interviews given.”
Grasso has gotten four commitments since getting the interim job: senior guards Danny Lawhorn, Jayon James and Sean Armand and sophomore forward Amadou Sidibe.

Is this real? I can't tell if it's sarcasm or not. I just woke up so I'm still fuzzy, but this can't be real.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
Nothing like the other team's coach copy catting your coach.
Just another day as the Flagship.

If I hadn't read it on the Fordham message board first, I would think that was a "cabaret attempt" at parody, as Simon Cowel would put it.
Not quite "Lets make Rose Hill Gym a living hell for our opponent". More like "Get your butts here and honor your fellow students who have sacrificed their baksetball lives to play for you, come on, I'll give you a jersey. what do you say?"

This is definitely real. I pulled it off the Fordham message board. Which, by the way, as of a few hours ago did not have a single thread about Xavier or the game tonight. They may have a long way to go to get to the "best student section in college basketball."

Fordham has a message board?!?! Stop it, you guys are killing me! This just keeps getting funnier and funnier. I can just see it...one guy in his basement who has been a season ticket holder since 1950 posting topics and replying to himself with sarcasm then getting all bent out of shape and banning himself for the next couple of days.

I thought we weren't supposed to bring up MM anymore.

It's actually a fairly active board.

At least 1 student got the message last night - and was then summarily ejected.
