Andrew Koenig, better known to most as Richard "Boner" Stabone on Growing Pains, has been found dead. Apparently friends found him while searching a forest area he was fond of. Here's the story:

(For those that don't know, his father is the actor who played Chekov on Star Trek.)

Sad story. No parent should ever have to bury their child. Condolences to the Koenig family.

What an odd post....shows our pathetic 80's generation. Don't get me wrong, its sad the guy is dead. Can you imagine a family show in this day and age where one of the characters is named Boner? Its amazing ABC allowed that...even back then. Major props to the writers who had the balls to try it. Gotta bet they may have just done it as a joke...and then when the network ok'd it, they probably all sat around laughing and snorting coke incredulous as to how they were just able to have a character on a family show on a national network channel named Boner on tv.

Just to verify.... I'm not being overly sensitive on this one. Growing Pains wasn't Seinfeld or an adult comedy....it was a family show on ABC....and it had a character named BONER...that is friggin' hilarious and amazing.

It is kind of funny how tv documents the era. Three's Company is a hilarious example of that.

We had an engineer in my Tokyo office nicknamed Boner. He was always messing with the OL's (Office Ladies). I called him Boner when all of the guys were out drinking one night, and the name stuck. I thought it was cute because they really didn't know what it meant, and then one day, our CEO was over from the US, and he going around and greeting people, and he met Suzuki, and Suzuki-san told the CEO that he could call him Boner. I have never seen a CEO of a Fortune 100 company at a loss for words, but this came pretty close.

The other part of the story is that we had 2 Americans named John in the office. He was 5'7" tall, and I am 6'4" tall, so he was Little John, and I was Big John. The CEO is sitting in my office, and the OL's would come in to bring us coffee or drop things off or pick things up, and they would say, "Big John-san" when they would address me. Finally, he said, "Why do all of the girls in the office call you Big Johnson?"

In 6th grade...the substitute teacher said, "Nepoleon Bonaparte...he was such a boner"

Not the thing you say to 6th graders and not expect a laughing reaction

Damn, I tried google imaging him to see what the character looked like. What a disgusting sitcom.

Geez, you'd think Nick from "Family Ties" had died.

If it had been Kirk Cameron, I could at least have one fewer person telling me I'm going to Hell.

At first I thought this was another anti-viagra ad.

Well played....well played, indeed. "Hey..." Pretty sure that was his only line.

Boner Stabone told Mike that his father was Sylvester Stabone...It's the only "line" I remember from that show...except the song.
