Xavier is ranked #5 in the latest Ap poll out this afternoon. Highest ranking ever in XU history. Does anyone know if this is the highest ranking for any Xavier sports program nationally? I really only follow Xavier Women's Basketball so I am not sure if Men's Basketball or any other sport has been rated higher. I'm excited!!!!

Yes, many kudos to the Xavier Women.

This IS the year we will get past the first round curse. #5 ranking, games 1 AND 2 are at Cintas.

We've had this conversation so many times on the men's board re: Crawford.....but do people expect both Phillips and Harris back next year? If so, WOW!

I can only hope that dynamic pair is back. With the size they can dominate 99% of all teams out there, add in Amber's ability to handle the ball and to score from 10 and out they will own the record books.

At senior day over the weekend, Amber was not one of those to be honored after the game, I hope that means she is staying, looking over the box scores, it looks like she is really starting to hit her stride now, that the first 20 games of the season were her warm up and recovery period from the knee injury.

"GoMuskies" your question raises another question in my mind, how in the world do you replace them?

Congrats on #5, certainly the best ever for the XU ladies. Thanks to Notre Dame for their losses resulting in the shakeup. Barring some huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge upsets, I don't see the top five changing from here out, all XU can do is win out, and hope for a 2 or 3 seed.

I certainly hope they are both back as well. Ta'Shia will def be back considering she is only a junior and in women's hoop they have to be out of high school for 4 years before they could go pro, if she even wants. The big question is whether Amber will come back and I think everyone is keeping this a pretty big secret. I'm guessing they'll wait til the end of the year to announce something one way or the other.
I hate to look forward to next year but with the group of young ladies coming in including 2 top 100 prospects if Amber does come back it could be even more special than this year. Think Amber, Ta'Shia, Special, and Moss from the starting five. Plus Katie off the bench. Lakeisha Crouch and Lynette Holmes will be agood additional for the muskies because they will add some athletism to our forward/guard position.
After Ta'Shia and Amber are gone, I do not know what to expect. Should be interesting!

That's the highest ranking for basketball, men or women. Not sure about rifle; I don't think they ever finished #1 or won any NCAA title that I can remember.

The rifle team at Xavier has been around since 1937 and became an NCAA-sponsored sport in the early 1980s. Since its introduction, the team spent little time making itself known as a pristine program attracting the nation’s top recruits year in and year out. Over the its last five years, the Rifle Team has reached new heights. At the NCAA National Championships, the team finished in second place in 2000, fourth in 2001, third in 2002, second in 2003, and fifth in 2004.
