He might be good at golf but he is good at nothing else in life.
What a %&%.

I don't know. I think he's pretty good at most stuff. He sucks at marriage though.

"Blue"]Woods owes most us only good golf. To those he owed an apology, he delivered in full.

That sentence from Paul Daugherty's column can be applied to almost any professional athlete. Like him or not, it is certainly better not to revile him for his failings. It's a "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" situation.
Personally, I don't condone his actions, and I have no way of knowing what's in his heart or how he will rectify things with his wife and children. But in that regard I do know this: He will have to live with the consequences of his actions for the rest of his life, private and professional.
I know I'll continue to marvel at his accomplishments on the golf course, just as I will continue to marvel at Pete Rose, Ty Cobb and Babe Ruth for their accomplishments on the baseball diamond, and numerous other athletes for their achievements in their sports, whatever they may be.

Can't believe the porn star watched with her Atty Gloria and demanded an apology.....this is how ridiculous the whole deal has become....like she wasn't paid handsomely and didn't know that Tiger was...um...oh...MARRIED!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dumb stuff. She will sue him for "mental stress" or some bullshit like that......Big money breeds big problems.

Tiger doesnt owe me, you or anyone not named Elin or his kids/family/close associates an apology. He cheated on his wife, wrong most definitely but not illegal. To expect more from him just because he is Tiger Woods is not even remotely logical. I didnt see Bill Clinton answer questions either and he was the damn president. The media just needs to let it go, let him work on his family life (if any left) and then when he is ready, allow him to resume his career. To expect/demand he answer their questions is not gonna happen. He WONT do it.

tiger woods is good at golf, bad at being married, and who knows about anything else.

i've decided today that society is good at sucking, so maybe we don't really have any room to talk about tiger woods. they used to break into regular network programming for things such as the kennedy assassination, the moon landing, and things of that nature. we now break into network television for tiger woods talking about his sex life. an athlete who is rich and famous who is also having lots of sex is not news. at the very least it isn't breaking news. i find it hard to believe that this is even out of the ordinary. i'd actually be more surprised for someone who is young, rich and famous to NOT be having lots of sex. either way, i think it's kind of sad that this is what we now consider to be headline news.

And we don't owe it to him to think he's anything but someone who sucks at life.

I was referring to the media bitching since he wont answer or give them the opportunity to ask him personal questions. Also go read any news media site-they are all asking if the apology was sincere/sufficient/acceptable. Who cares, it isnt their life. Tiger is Tiger, Go Muskies is Go Muskies, Sash is Sash. We all have our own skeletons in the closet and it no one elses business but ours.

That is what I meant by close associates....Just lumped them in with that group.....Agree totally though. They pay him, he owes them an apology also.

ok I agree he doesn't owe us an apology per say. However he is a very recognizable sports figure and people, especially kids, look up to him. Sure, its the media's fault for letting this spin way out of control but we can't put him on the same level as us. If I mess up, who is to know but my family. He messes up and the whole world knows and that's the price he pays for being in the spotlight. At least with someone like Dennis Rodman you know what you got. But Tiger put himself out there as something he wasn't and that is what is a sham.

What's also amazing is that intial woman who came forward has now gotten a entertainment TV reporting gig simply for sleeping with Tiger Woods which raised her publicity...No qualifications whatsoever. Apparently she was an aspiring actress/model/everything...It's absolutely incredible

I think that the whole "Athletes as Role Models" argument is a slippery slope. Solid arguments can be made on both sides. You could argue that Tiger put himself in a position to be a role model to kids. You could also make an argument that he didn't put himself in a position to be a role model, the media and his sponsors did.

Personally, I tend of flip-flop in this issue. I don't know if I think Tiger really 'owes' us an apology. I also don't know that Tiger is apologizing because he really thinks he 'owes' us an apology. He very well may be trying to do some damage control to salvage what is left of his brand. I don't know that though, and I don't really care.

I was a Tiger fan prior to the recent incident. I don't know that I am going to be a Tiger fan after this. I'm not going to hate the guy, but I think it will be very hard for people to root for him anytime soon.

most of his sponsors aren't paying him anymore. i don't know if he owes them an apology, but in a sense he did owe them money. in a sense he also paid up. i believe he and his sponsors are square.

I don't stand on his front lawn and cheer him on as he runs his household. If he hits a nice shot, or wins a tournament when he comes back, I'll cheer. I'm a sports fan.

I'm with xubrew on this one. I watched his press conference this evening and I just looked at my wife and said, "this is surreal. Every national broadcast station broke away from regular programming to air a press conference about a golfer cheating on his wife." I don't really have a strong opinion on this whole fiasco other than I am amazed at the coverage. I don't condone what he did, but if there was a breaking news every time a millionaire actor, musician or athlete announced infidelity, I doubt we'd ever get through a half hour television show ever again.

The one snippet of his speech that I found interesting was that he also made reference to his cursing on the course. He apologized to the PGA and the players and said he would give the sport of golf the respect it deserves on the golf course. So its clear his handlers are essentially telling him that if he's going to clean himself up, he might as well clean everything up. He might be able to get his personal life together, but I think cleaning up the cursing on the course might be pretty difficult for him. If he slices a drive on the 72nd tee box at Augusta, as competitive as he is, I'm not sure he'll be able to stifle a club slam into the ground and a "gdit, Tiger." It will be really interesting to see how that plays out once he returns to the sport.

Edit: I also predict that if Tiger gets back on the course and wins some tournaments, this whole fiasco and national broadcast breaking news story for the press conference will be completely forgotten by mid 2011, if not sooner.

HA HA HA HA.....That is great!! I just spit out my coffee laughing at that one! I may sign up for that job also! Not a bad gig if you can make $100mil a year and nail everything in sight!! Does it come with medical benefits and a match on the 401(k)???

Tiger has made poor Elin a wealthy woman even if the marriage doesn't last. All is not lost.
Most marriages don't usually end with both parties rich.

I wonder if the references to Buddhism were (at least partially) a response to Brit Hume's ignorant bloviating on Fox News after the story broke that the only way for Tiger to truly recover from the scandal was to embrace Christianity because Buddhism has no mechanism for redemption.

I thought the entire thing was rather silly. It's stupid to think that Tiger can just read a statement and be done with this.

This is more then just him cheating on his wife. He conducted himself in some very reckless behavior. I'm not sure why he doesn't answer questions. He made gazillions of dollars on crafting an image that people would buy. We were sold that image. I think he should get up there and say, "Yup and I dirty guy. My bad."

I think people forget there are a ton of sports related questions that involve this situation. And if a guy can't answer "What caused the car accident?" "What injuries do you sustain from this accident?" then personally I hope he never plays again.
