Seeing as how i'm a huge baseball fan, I am very excited to see how the Muskees perform this year after reaching the 2009 NCAA Tourney. The opening series starts tomorrow and ends Sunday in Knoxville. What makes the series even more interesting for me is I am familiar with Charlie Thurber, who is a starter for Tennessee. Of course I will be rooting for XU, but when Thurber steps up to the plate, i'll be on his side.

The only coverage of the game I know of is gametracker and the tennessee radio broadcast. Here are the links:

I know almost everyone, if not everyone, on this board is here to talk about Muskees basketball. But if anyone cares, the Muskees are getting blown out by the Vols 8-0.

The Muskees only have 1 hit, and that was a single by second basemen Drew Schmidt, who got thrown out at second trying to stretch it into a double.

I sure wasn't expecting this, and I hope they turn it around some time soon.

I noticed that too, although i'm not sure if it is their first ever. It very well may be.

Xavier showed some life in the top 5th, scoring 3 runs.

Let's go X!

Unfortunately, they got all 3 back

X tends to struggle early in the non conference as do most northern teams but look out for them in the race for the top spot in the A10

Here is a very good blog that I have been following over the past 2 weeks on Xavier baseball. The writer is Drew Schmidt, the starting infielder for X. He wen 2-4 today with a stolen base that led to a run. He has become one of my favorites.

It was also mentioned on the Tennessee radio broadcast today.

Tomorrows game is scheduled for a 2:00 start. Of course I will be watching Xavier Basketball, but during commercials, I will check what's happening in Knoxville, as well as check out the Lady Muskees.

Hopefully we bounce back strong, especially on the pitching end.

Xavier just lost a heartbreaker in the bottom of the 9th in Knoxville. Cody Stubbs had a walk-off single that scored two runs for the win.

Xavier was winning 6-4 in the bottom of the 9th, but X just kept walking people and giving up singles to lose this one.

At least we can fall back on both basketball teams winning today.

Game 2 was a tough loss. UT scored the last 5 runs to win 7-6. Game 3 was a 17-1 blowout. 0-3 on the season.

Yeah, Tennessee has a great offense this year. Last year they struggled, but I would expect them to have quite a successful season this year.

I can't imagine it will be any easier against Georgia Tech next weekend. It looks like X scheduled a pretty tough out of conference schedule.

They really need to come through pitching-wise. It hasn't been pretty so far.

Ga Tech plays "beesball". I don't know much about their team, but they swept through their first weekend series fairly easily, and they are thinking that it could be an Omaha year for them. It will be another tough challenge for the team this week.

They're shitty.

At least it's better than the days of John Morrey.

Sounds like a disgruntled groundskeeper from Major League.
