In the AP poll. Another first for Xavier women.
This is huge, that would make you think they are headed for a 2, but I think the rpi is a bit low for that, I'd say if they can run the table in the regular season and get to the A-10 final it will cement than as a 3, and that's a real nice spot to be in. Palm had them as a 4 a couple days ago.
Stay close to this team folks, they are running through the Xavier record book like a hot knife through butter!
Congrats again to Coach and the ladies.

I most certainly will follow every game that the XU women play this year.
My interest has grown each game.
While they looked sluggish and nowhere's near a #6 team against Richmond, I know they have much more skill and heart. Those games happen over the course of the season, as we saw with the Xavier Men.
I can't wait to see the women play Wednesday and St. Joes I believe.

It was for marketing's stupid youth day idea. They canceled it prematurely too.

If my kids are off school tomorrow, I'll try to arrange for them to make it.

You're right, I probably should have clarified that the game was still on.

They have done these youth days for atleast the last 6 years...they are always well attended and are great learning experiences surrounding the message of childhood obesity, teamwork, striving to do your best, etc... (I don't know what this year's theme was). So they are not stupid...it is a great partnership between Xavier women's athletics and the community.
And it was cancelled because no schools are in session...how can you have a field trip if schools are closed?

Hmm, game is going to be over in right around 90 minutes - did they start early, not have intermission, what?

Xavier wins! 63-56. 10 straight wins. 19-3 overall.
Special Jennings was 1-14 from the floor. Ouch.
The Muskie Women need to pick up their play because if they keep playing like this, it could make for major dissapointment come tourney time.

Fewer than 20 fouls in the whole game. Sounds like everybody wanted to get it done.
It seemed to me to be, , a tune up night, much like the previous game. They game out blazing, built a big lead, then went into cruise control. This was a bunch easier than the Richmond matchup the other day, but it sounded similar. A struggle to finish. Now granted, St Joes and Richmond are not horrible teams, they do have some talent and decent coaching, but the Musketeers will really have to wake up and put the game into gear. They have 2 games that have good RPI counts. Duquesne at 97 and Dayton at 35. Dukies are on our tail in the conference. Win those 2 and you cement the top of the conference, and a very strong spot in the rankings and rpi. Those wins will also set us up for a 25+ win season, another thing the commitee loves at the end of the season. Imagine going in to the NCAA 26-3 with the A-10 reg season and tourney crowns as well as a 17 game win streak. Can you say a #2 seed???

By the way. The youth day is far from a stupid idea. Where do you think all those little girls in Katies Korner come from?
Back when I worked there, there was a nightly mob scene after every game waiting to get autgraphs from Retta, Amy Booth, Aida, Michelle M and all the rest. You can build your audience from the ground up, and each of those little girls will bring a mom or dad along with them to further fill the seats.
Xavier's marketing folks have always done a pretty good job working to fill the seats. I've been to many arenas for womens games where they don't put in the effort, and the #'s in the stands show it. No the 2000 or so per game doesn't rival the men's numbers at Cintas, but X is generally at or near the top of the A-10 in attendance, and does a pretty good job considering how much competition there is for the sport dollar in Cincinnati.
By the way, this isn't the first time the youth day got snowed out is it? It seems to me that's happened in the past. What did you guys get, 5 inches or so??? That's just flurries,,,,

My photo's of the game today are on my site. Since it was supposed to be youth day I took my son and he had a great time. Now that Katie has the record she can settle down and play basketball.
