I was glad to see him as well as Adam Rosales gone.
Not that I even care that we have Aaron Miles...I'm just happy they are gone.
Gives a chance for Frazier or Valaika to make the squad as a backup infielder and now we can concentrate on Stubbs playing everyday....of course with Dusty Baker, I guess we can't count on anything.
Its gonna continue to be tough rooting for the Reds with Dusty Baker still sucking on a toothpick in the dugout. He is the worst.

I don't think Frazier or Valaika will be on this team to be backups, I think they would just send them back to Louisville, but I do agree I am excited to see these two later this year or next year.

I liked this trade because the Reds saved some money, it got rid of a terrible player who Dusty loved to play despite how terrible he was, and in return the Reds got an adequate utility infielder.

Willy was a 1 tool player out of 5 tools. He could steal 2nd and especially 3rd but that was it. He should be very happy with whatever he got paid, but then I can't be a hater cuz everybody must have known (if you ever saw him @ the plate), he can't hit.

Getting rid of a guy Dusty found every excuse in the book to play is good. Miles is nothing more than a utility man/late inning replacement. Not even Dusty would try to play him over Phillips, Cabrera or Rolen. He's probably behind Drew Sutton as well. Now just man up and sign Damon or at minimum bring back Gomes so Dusty can't go Dusty and play Dickerson and Stubbs at the same time very often. Then the Reds might be on to something this year...

With these moves, I can feel the excitement building, even though I try to temper my enthusiasm. this team has great young pitching and are adding solid (if a little over the hill) offensive players to the lineup. It appears that Walt believes that these guys are close to a Series run.

We're not there yet. We still can't score runs. I'll get excited when we add a bat that can produce 120 RBIs....but if we get that, we'll likely have to get rid of one (or two) of our young arms...rinse, lather, repeat.

We need a true difference maker.

We're nowhere close to a WS run...are you serious?

I am gonna somewhat disagree here. I don't think we need to give up our young arms to get that big bat. Between Votto, Bruce, and Phillips then add in the near future call up of guys like Alonso and Frazier, I think the ability to score runs will be there for the guys in the next 2 or 3 years. You don't need the one bat who can produce 40 HR/120 RBI if we have three guys who are 20-25 HR 80-95 RBI.

Mix that with the extremely good young talent the Reds have on the mound, and the future definitely looks bright for the Reds. That being said, this year will not be a big playoff run in my opinion. I am guessing 85-88 Ws.

If he's adding 30+ yr. old infielders, I hope to god that he thinks they can make a run at it, or else he's just throwing money away stupidly. And besides, the only thing you need a 40 HR, 120 RBI guys for is to pt butts in seats. If you build the right lineup, you can do without.

I'd like to see them sign Gomes, but was holding out hope they'd land Nady. That kid was something before the injuries.

This is a point. I was thinking yesterday about the ages of Rolen, Cabrera and Hernandez. No long term solutions at short or catcher. They can move Frazier to third but Rolen is signed thru 2012.

It is nothing short of astonishing how Dusty plays, and bats, guys at the top of the lineup who are fast but can't get on base. He doesn't seem to understand that a guy can't score if he doesn't get on base. On base percentage appears to be a foreign and insignificant concept to Dusty.

Well the Reds are actually kind of deep at short in the minors between Todd Frazier (who may or may not stick there), Zack Cozart, Miguel Rojas, DD Gregorius and newly drafted Billy Hamilton (who was called the most athletic player in the draft last year). Cozart will play SS for Louisville this coming year and he is very good in the field. His bat needs some work but but he if he hits at last year's level he will be fine. Chris Valaika may be able to play the position but they probably have plans to move him to 2nd with Cozart being moved up to AAA.

Catcher is not very deep at all but the Reds are still holding out hope on Devin Mesoraco who needs to step up this year or the Reds are going to have to turn elsewhere for a catcher of the future.
