Oh the humanity. They shoud be disbanded! They are a horrible excuse for a football team, they can't stay out of trouble!
Just so everyone understands, the Bengals (as compared to the rest of the NFL) have kept their noses clean in the past year+. I know everyone likes to rag on them for being "bad boys", but in truth, there are many teams that have been in a lot more trouble than the Bengals in recent history. San Diego, I'm looking at you.

When the Browns didn't take Rey in the second round I was pissed. I guess their background work on his anger and alcohol issues was wise.

Maybe. He is a good player, though. Cleveland certainly could use him.
The NFL if full of people who make bad decisions in their personal lives. Full of them. Many of them have been gifted athletes since they were in High School and have never really had the same consequences for their actions that normal people have. It is a fact of life in the NFL.
As far as Cleveland's 'background work' - I will leave that one alone.

Oh well. Sucks to be Rey, but I don't think this means anything other than Rey made a bad choice that night and will pay the price for his poor decision.

You mean here we go still. Bengals may have disappointed on the field, but they continue to perform off of it. Lots of teams could use a good player, but no team needs trouble.

I cannot feel sorry for any of these guys. They are getting paid boku bucks bucks to play a game and just try to piss it away. Many of these guys make more in one week than most of us make in a year or multiple years time.

The guy was a second round pick. I don't care enough to look up the specifics, but I have to imagine he had a nice signing bonus, makes seven figures a year, etc. Why is he driving a 2003 Sunfire? Was Dante Bichette unwilling to sell him his used VW Beetle? Chris Sabo's holding onto his 1985 Escort?Perhaps Mike Brown gives these to key employees as company cars?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the might have belonged to one of the girls who was in the car with him (one being underage).

Didn't the Brown's just have a player kill a man while driving under the influence last year and another Brown had to be shipped off for assaulting LeBrons's buddy after the Bengal game this year? Yeah seems like the Brown's are the poster organization for staying out of trouble and do a great job with background checks.

The Bengals have gotten more crap for players getting into trouble more than any other team and imo, wrongly so.
First, if you look at the players, most had their legal issues while in college and the NFL knew about them and few if any got any penalty from the NFL, so why wouldn't the Bengals pick them if they are good players, I mean, it is football, not church.
Second look at Chris Henry and Odell Thurman. May Chris rest in peace but what the media latched onto was how many different things happened to the team in a short time, when most were single-handly done by Chris and then you put on top of it Odell and the circus was created. We all know Chris' story, we released him and then brought him back and he seemed to change his ways and had been doing a good job. Odell we just cut loose rightly so.
Bottom line is the NFL is filled with men that (many have come from rough childhoods) now have alot of money and free time in the off-season, things will go wrong. All you have to do is a little research to understand cincy was just unlucky to be annointed the poster child for the NFL for bad boys. We even tried to bring Mike Vick in, so something tells me it won't end any time soon with Mikey boy calling the shots.

If guess if winning the AFC North is disappointing, things are going pretty well for the Bengals.

I thought the game that really mattered is being played in south Florida next week. But, hey if you are satisfied with your team winning the AFC North, that's cool.

Yeah, and the browns are on the cusp of making the super bowl.
One of your teams players drove drunk and killed someone last season. Your team is a mess. Glass houses, man. At least we made the playoffs with all of our problem players.

So 30 teams in your mind have had disappointing seasons? I'm sure Browns fans scoff at the idea of winning the AFC North only to not win the Super Bowl. Next year Browns fans will sweep the division and make it to the AFC Championship game only to lose and look at one another, "Well this season was another failure."

Wow, looks like I hit a nerve here. I never mentioned the Browns here, but now that they have been mentioned by others I'll remind you that I think the Browns suck. Divert and defend all you want that doesn't change reality.

Vee: I, for one, would like to see your response to this post. By the definition you stated earlier every Xavier season ever (except for maybe the NIT champtionship) has been a disappointment because we didn't make the Championship game?
Making the playoffs is the first step to making the Super Bowl. You make the playoffs with some consistancy and then you can make the Super Bowl. I'm not saying that the Bengals have, or are going to, consistantly make the playoffs, but to act like making the postseason isn't an accomplishment because you aren't playing in the Super Bowl is a little harsh.

Before you spout off with the same old tired lines about the Bengals being bad boys, why not take a look at the link in my first post. There are many players from the NFL that get in trouble. Just about one a day. Before this, the last Bengal to be on the wrong side of the law was in April '09. There have been more of your Brownies in trouble in that time frame than Bengals.

Wow, all these claims of spouting off. Based on my demeanor while typing, I have to say it didn't seem like spouting off to me. I guess I need to rely on people who don't even know me to tell me my own demeanor. Thanks for the help. As to my comment about the Super Bowl, I was just busting Kahn's chops, something I am guilty of from time to time. As for "spouting off" sorry fellas, I just don't see it. Yet, I understand defending your team vociferously. Just please don't accuse others of emotions when you have no actual experience or context for it.
