Excellent day in Rhode Island. Got to have dinner with a few old friends, and got to watch the Musketeers dismantle the Rams.
Had a nice talk with Mike Schmaltz, he's certainly the hardest working guy on the radio. Lucky to have such a great job and Xavier is lucky to have him!
Also had a nice talk with Coach Waugh, one of my all time favorite players. I always remember her taking a charge, getting blasted to the ground, coming up looking like she's really hurt bad, but then you could always catch a little smile coming from her, and you knew it was all part of her plan.
My observations on the team.
T is an absolute monster, this is the first time I've seen her play in person, I'm amazed at what great condition she is in.
It is great fun to watch what April can do with the ball, in the same front court as Amber and T she looks small, but she can muscle her way in anywhere, and has a great finish to the rim.
Special Jennings and Ty Moss are just wonderful. Maybe the best pair of guards XU has seen since Amy and Retta.
Amber had kind of an off night, rolled an ankle at the end of the first half, played just a bit in the second. For Amber I hope she comes back next year, another year alongside T would be great for all involved. I also wish I could put a smile on her face, she's so smooth, so strong, an amazing player.
No one I've seen on the court since maybe as far back as Mandy Geryak, has as much fun on the court as Mo Hester, she's just going all out, including her mouth, the whole time she's out there, great fun to watch her play.
And finally Brittany moore, she'll surpirse some people, she's got this wonderful little jumper in her, and has the ability to go strong to the glass. Her effort makes it all worthwhile.
Thanks to the ladies for the autographs, the flag now has the whole list of all stars!
I forgot, that Katie Rutan, now that's a jumpshot!!
Also, I wish I had my old job back!
