did anyone catch outside the lines today? they discussed teams that fire coaches midseason. Jim Boehem and the athletic director for Depaul were interviewed. What was interesting is one of the analysts brought up a conversation he had with Skip about how a school like Xavier is so successful, because everyone at the university is invested in the teams success, and to have that type of success everyone has to be behind the team.

I really don't understand the idea of firing coaches mid-season. How exactly are Fordham and DePaul better today for firing guys they should have let go last spring?

I agree what we have at Xavier is special and unique and somewhat surprising. These programs that fire coaches during the season have misplaced sense of responsibility to their programs when they make a decision to change the direction of the program during a current season. It might help the long term objective, but what does it say about your short term solutions and how attractive a job is to future candidates?
