Here is the link. I'm sure this wasn't an easy decision for Greg and the administration.

In other words. They want to pump more money into the basketball program which is a good thing.

That for sure. Hopefully it will strengthen the A-10 Basketball Conference even more.

I doubt a million dollars will make that much of an improvement.

How about half a million dollar locker room update, $250,000 recruiting budget increase, and $250,000 to get/retain the head coach and assistants.

That will definitely help.

There are 10,000+ students at Duquesne? Wow.

Cutting Baseball is somehow unAmerican.

Very true. They were picked to do horrible this year in baseball, but still, baseball is what drives America:)

nope. they now have scholarship football. the money spent on basketball probably won't increase all that much. it's fcs football, so it's 52 scholarships and not 85, but still. they knew they would have to cut certain men's sports the day they made the decision to go to scholarship football.

Which is why the men's non-rev sports are feeling the pain. Thanks to Title IX my friends.

Or due to an awful decision to try to sponsor an FCS football team. But no I am sure the women's volleyball team is what killed those sports.

Actually Duquesne's football team has historically been quite good, for their level.

Personally I've got no beef with Title IX, except I think there ought to be some discount for football (e.g., only 50% of the football schollies count for Title IX purposes). Seems unfair to penalize the men's programs for utilizing a lot of scholarships for football when the football team subsidizes the entire athletic department.
