I haven't been to a women's game since my X days...pre-Cintas, but watched a few minutes of the Temple game. Sorry for the random question, but why does the women's team sit on the other side of the court from where the men's bench sits? I assume its because its closer to the lockers? I know that the student turnout isn't large, but I would think you'd still want the visitors scoring into the student section in the second half...just wondering.

I don't really know, but I'm trying to go on recall from the Alumni Open House when Cintas first opened.

It seems to me the MEN do things backwards of logic. If I recall correctly, the MEN's locker room is closest to the back of cintas, then the women's locker room, then the guest locker room. I forget where the volleyball locker room fits into the puzzle.

That puts the guests lockers closest to the Joseph Club end of the arena, and you note thats the tunnel the guest uses, men or women. The home team is closest to the back, which coincidentaly, puts them closer to the practice facility in back of Cintas. You will note the home team always either uses the tunnel by the student section, or comes down the student section aisle.

For the men's games the two teams essentially have to cross court to get to their benches, where the women don't.

FWIW: the ref's locker room is barely bigger than a broom closet and is located along the visitor's tunnel.

I don't think there is a standard for which side of the scorer's table is home and which is away.

for high school games, the home team could pick whichever bench they want to use.

I think it has something to do with Xavier wanting the men's visiting team in the second half to shoot at the goal where the students are. Teams shoot at the same end as the their bench in the second half. So if the benches were switched this couldn't occur.

also maybe something to do with Blue/White Night or Muskie Madness...this way each team is able to sit on its own respective bench...
