I know Oregon State has been down recently...but down year or not, that score is shocking to me. To lose by 51 points at home to a team like Seattle.......wow....

Actually, this is the year some thought Oregon St would climb out of the cellar in the Pac-10, and they still might which is even scarier! But yes, any time you lose at home to a team you should beat it hurts, let alone lose by 51 (which matched the Beavers worst loss in school history) to a Seattle team playing its first full season at the "D1" level! I was so shocked by the score I had to check the OSU website to see if anyone got hurt/ejected, and sadly none of that occurred!
I tip my hat to the Seattle Redhawks!!

Well, don't know about that. But I do know that GW screwed the A-10 ranking by losing that game- at home.

Redhawks? I never knew that. That's a bad thing, right? Losing to a team where most college bb fans don't know that team's school mascot.

Chattanooga Mockingbirds
QUOTE]
I know they wanted to go all PC and garbage like everyone else, but if not the full Mocisons name, they should have just left it as the mocs and never introduced the "mockingbird"...ugh.
My least favorite PC move was Eastern Michigan....used to be the Hurons. They had a contest to rename the team and a student favorite was the Fighting Emu's...get it, EMU...that at least would have been unique and I hear Emus are the SOBs of birdom. But alas, they go with Eagles...very creative. Especially since Marquette changes to the Golden Eagles the year before.

"The term “Moc” is short for “Mockingbird.” Mockingbirds are fiercely territorial creatures which protect their homes with courage, determination and skill. Those attributes reflect the intellect, spirit and character of UTC student-athletes and alumni. A Moc is a champion on the playing surface, in the classroom and, most importantly, in life."
Sounds like T.O. to me.

Seattle U is not bad. First year with a full D1 schedule, but they have done a nice job over the last 5 yrs to get ready for this. They can succeed on the West Coast, and aim to get into the WCC with Gonzaga etc.
I don't view them as a top program by any means, but they can quickly become as successfull as many A-10 teams.
The talent in Seattle has few options. Either you are good enough to play PAC 10, or you head to the Mountain West etc. There are so many fewer private schools out West that thay could grab some market when it comes to the types of players that prefer the smaller environment.
Watch out for Charles Garcia. I don't know where he came from, but he's a scorer for Seattle U.

What? They had 9 losses entering the Oregon State game. They lost by 21 at home to Harvard in the game before OSU. They beat OSU by 51. That's good, but it isn't like they are Portland.

I watched this one and was rooting for UCLA all the way. Keeping California out of the NCAA tournament can only help the A-10 (and therefore Xavier).
The score of this game perplexes me. I realize Oregon State is complete crap and has been for some time now, and that Seattle is surprisingly decent, but a 51 point loss at home? That's hard for any team to make happen. Without looking up this information, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that even the likes of Alcorn State has not been a part of such an embarassing home loss this year.

Guess you guys aren't aware but Seattle has a guy on their team, Charles Garcia, who is one of the top prospects in the draft. He had academic issues in JC and HS which is why he is there. He didn't do much that game, but I'm sure Seattle has a lot of similar players on there team which can make them deceptively good.

Back in the day, Seattle had a very respectable national basketball program. One player they had of whom anybody with any knowledge of College and NBA basketball knows is Elgin Baylor. He was only 6'5" tall and 225 lbs but he was a scoring and rebounding machine and a perennial All-Star in the NBA.
