Shocker! OJ Mayo found to have accepted cash, clothes while a freshman. USC imposes post-season ban for this year, vacates all wins from 2007-08. returns all money from NCAA tourney, reduces scholarhsips by one next year, and reduces recruiting schedule.

They haven't even come up w/ a punishment for the Reggie Bush thing yet.

Nice clean program out there.

And they won't...that is the way the NCAA works. USC bball is not a national powerhouse so sanctions are levied. Football on the otherhand is a top 3 program and huge NCAA money maker so they will find a way to let it slide.

Contdown until we read this article with UK instead of USC in the title.

Did USC have a good enough 07-8 season that vacating it is a big deal?

Those are self-imposed right? Doesn't mean the NCAA won't add on. I'm as a big a critic of the NCAA as anyone, but let's wait to see what they do.

No real surprise. Mayo is/was pure poison. Only a $1,000 though?

That's all we know. I doubt it's all the money that exchanged hands.

Lowest of the low.

I wonder if his professors are telling him that he needs to "re-learn" how to write.

I wonder if the NCAA will ever read Kareem or Bill Walton's books. Basically that whole UCLA dynasty will come down (basically UCLA had a booster named Sam Gilbert and all those UCLA guys were making more $$$ in college than they would have in the pros, plus nice cars, apartments, ect). This is all garbage. The NCAA had it out for Mayo before he ever got anywhere. My guess is they will do the same to Wall and Stephenson, which is a shame, considering how much the NCAA makes off those kids.

Had it out for OJ? He was violating rules in high school. Why do these kids get to accept benefits but players at X cannot/do not? Rules are rules. I understand your argument about the NCAA making money off of these kids but that is irrelevant to the fact that OJ knew the rules and he broke them and so did USC. And this isn't like it was some little known rule or grey area, he just flat out took cash. Also, these kids get "paid" in tens of thousands of dollars of tuition, free clothes and shoes, room and board and a small amount of food money. I know this is nothing compared to what they make for the NCAA and the schools but think of all the normal students who don't have access to these benefits.

Stephenson is lucky to be eligible and Wall seems to be clean but you never know with Calipari. If these kids don't like the NCAA rules then go to Europe or play in the D League.
