My 75 year old mother fell on Xmas eve and waited to get looked at until Xmas day to find out that she had 2 cracked ribs, but then started having troubles with breathing on Monday and went to the hospital to find out that she had actually cracked 5 ribs. She is now in the hospital trying to avoid pneumonia and other complications. Dad is 76 and doesn't move all that well so he is sitting at home by himself. Oldest brother and I might have to run to Chicago to help them out, other older brother who still lives in Chicago is in Colorado skiing with 2 of his sons.....

Runner, my dad fell Christmas night and fractured a rib. He's 80 and pneumonia's a concern. Make sure your mom uses the sprirometer as often as possible to keep bacteria out of the lungs. Also, considering she has several broken ribs, keep an eye on her swallowing to make sure she doesn't contract aspriation pneumonia.

Runners and Garvin,
Prayers will follow. Angel Mary is being assigned to your mom, Runner, and Garvin, your dad gets Angel Brian. If you need explanation pm Muskieman, and some of the other posters I've shipped angels to watch over for numerous situations.
I had a bout with aspiration pneumonia last summer and it really messed me up. Be very sure both of their esophogas are clear and if there is any problem have the doctors check out an endoscopy. It's painless because they put you in twilight sleep and afterwards, you're able to sip liquids and later eat solid food..soft stuff at first. Those breathing treatments are a god-send.
Got Bless both of them and keep us posted on progress.:D:D

Prayers on the way Runner. I just saw this, otherwise I would have said something at the game. Not to alarm but neither Polio or Prostrate Cancer could kill my Dad, he ended up dying from pneunmonia. It's serious shit. I am thinking of your family right now.

Update, mom is home from the hospital and today she is sounding better, eating more and finds it easier to get up and down from the couch or any chair....but still gets tired quickly, like after eating at the kitchen table, no time to get up just take a nap there...have only done that when I have been really drunk or very hungover.....thanks for the prayers guys....lets hope I don't need them for a long while....
