Yikes! ESPN listed Old D as a quality win for the university on edwin moses blvd. I know ODU usually has good women's teams, but are the men that good? I better check, maybe ud beat ODU's women's team, hence the quality win.

Didn't ODU just beat Georgetown at their place last week?

I know ODU had been getting top 25 votes earlier this year.

ODU would be capable of fighting for a top 4 spot in the A10, for sure. Very quick and athletic, play good defense, only thing that holds them back is outside shooting. Beating them isn't a national attention grabbing win, but you certainly have to work like heck for 40 minutes to beat them.

That said, Charlotte's effort tonight was eye opening. I think Louisville's three major injuries clouded our view of what the Niners really are, a team with talent that can beat you on any night, but they're not capable of stringing together wins over good teams. Throw them some adversity and they fold, same old Lutz in the A10 dance. A bunch of players that love to score, but can't be bothered to defend and band together as a unit more than a few time a year. (usually when the Ohio A10 reps head to Charlotte) They better dig deep, because they have GT and Tennessee coming up soon. GT's at home so they may have a shot, but Tennessee is liable to drop 120 on them on Rocky Top.

Pomeroy had them losing by 12, and I'd imagine the betting line was similiar. They might have figured out pretty quick they weren't going to win, and decided they weren't in the mood to fight it.

But I think this Charlotte team is the best since they've entered the conference. Reason number 1 is they have a senior point. They also have a number of other upperclassmen that have been there awhile, some talented youth as back-ups, and they've been reasonably healthy. I don't see them actually winning the regular season conference, but they could get in the top 4. Maybe.

There is going to be at least 1 very good team that has to play a home game in the opening round of the A10 tourney. I hope it isn't us.

The line I saw was 7.5. I would have taken Charlotte. That would have obviously been a big mistake.

I know its way to early to be playing the "What if the regular season ended today" game, particularly with NO A10 conference games being played yet, but taking the A10 standings off of ESPN Scorecenter:

We are 10th, I know that is like extreme culture shock to those of us used to looking down from on high. 10th means a road game in the opening round of the A10 tourney.

(The official A10 standings board, of course hasn't been started yet due to no conference games being played)

So,this is totally meaningless drivel at this point , make of it what you will.

Right now, our rankings per ESPN:
(Free pass to Atlantic City)
1. Rhody - 9-1 (RPI 25 SOS 115) (Waits for winner of 8/9 game)
2. Charlotte - 9-2 (RPI 78 SOS 281) (Waits for winner of 7/10 game)
3. Dayton - 9-2 (RPI 28 SOS 46) (waits for winner of 6/11 game)
4. Temple - 9-2 (RPI 3 SOS 2) (waits for winner of 5/12 game)
(Opening round home game to win trip to Atlantic City)
5. George Washington - 8-2 (RPI 113 SOS 255) (hosts #12)
6. Richmond - 9-3 (RPI 23 SOS 35) (hosts #11)
7. Duquesne - 9-4 (RPI 87 SOS 131) (hosts #10)
8. St. Louis - 8-4 (RPI 118 SOS 72) (hosts #9)
(Opening round road game to win trip to Atlantic City)
9. La Salle - 7-4 (RPI 84 SOS 84) (goes to #8)
10. Xavier - 7-4 (RPI 38 SOS 14) (goes to #7)
11. St. Bona - 6-5 (RPI 141 SOS 124) (goes to #6)
12. U Mass - 6-6 (RPI 136 SOS 50) (goes to #5)
(Sitting in dorm rooms wondering what went wrong)
13. St.Josephs - 4-6 (RPI 107 SOS 13)
14. Fordham 2-8 (RPI 268 SOS 105)

Again, utterly meaningless right now, except as motivation to move up the ladder. Right now we would be preparing for a trip to Palumbo Center. SNUGGIE UP!

There's the game for Charlotte where everything goes wrong this year.
