Just saw the end on Gametracker. XU wins 69-52.

Double Doubles for both AH and TP with 20 and 22 points respectively. Also 5 and 4 blocks respectively. One of the first games tha I can remember in some time that Asst's outpaced TO's. FT% getting back on track too. 42 points in the second half, holding SLU to 25 after a 27 all tie at the break. SLU's leading scorer, Lisch, averaging nearly 20, gets a mere 4 points, all FT's. The point guard combo(not counting Jerri) had 8 pts, 8 asst's and 2 TO's. Pretty good day for them. Jerri seems mired in a bit of a shooting funk. If she gets back to her early season form, that would be huge for this team. BTW, our best 3 pt shooter of the day.....Alesia Barringer. Hope that is a sign of good things to come.

Congrats to all on the W. Romp Rhodey on Sun.

If anyone was able to attend, observations would be welcome.

I was in attendance and here were my observations:

I thought our offense was awful in the 1st half and we generally looked uninspired
Barringer had a better game than Special today-- scoring-wise at least
SLU's interior defense was among the worst I've seen this year
Amber and Ta'Shia had their way in the 2nd half and SLU had no answer
SLU's Paganelli and Hennegan are good but not THAT good
The school kids really enjoyed the game and it made for a great atmosphere
I thought McGuff spent too much time yelling at the refs when he should have been yelling at his team in the 1st half

It was an okay performance IMO, but not great. I wasn't happy that it was tied at halftime. SLU is not very good. It was a win, but I feel that at this point of the season, we should be doing a little better than we are.

It couldn't have been as big a nail-biter as it was last year; I think this was mostly the same crew that came within a whisker of beating Xavier in the A-10 quarters and possibly knocking them into the NIT.

As a side note, it was good that at least one team was able to hold someone from the Lisch family in check (her older brother Kevin Lisch has been a Xavier killer the past 2 years).
