Hey so there has been news latly that the WCC and Atlantic 10 are going to sign a deal to play a challenge similar to the Big Ten/ACC challenge.
I was wondering if any of you knew about this?
Also this seems to me to be a losing situation for the A-10, considering there are only 3 or 4 quality teams in the WCC

Weill Xavier and Gonzaga are starting to play each other. I think that starts next year. So I guess?

With the exception of 1 game that would be the least interesting competition in college basketball.
Hopefully if we ever did agree to something like that, Xavier and Gonzaga would always be guaranteed to play each other.

Fordham vs. Loyola Marymount would be scintillating.

Worst.
Idea.
Ever.
Just because everybody else is doing it... doesn't mean that it is a good idea.
Are there no other conferences that won't drag down the RPI of all but one of the other's schools?

I tend to agree with the 49er fan.
The last thing we need is to be crossing 3 time zones. Plus who are we recruiting west of the Mississippi?
Unless there is a guaranteed ESPN tv contract...no deal

As of today, according to RealTimeRPI.com:
Atlantic 10:
15, 25, 33, 51, 61, 70, 77, 93, 108, 138, 143, 147, 174, 289
West Coast
39, 45, 76, 79, 168, 223, 251, 331
And we, as a conference, are actually considering this?
They have eight teams... and the top eight teams in our league are top 100 RPI schools.
Half of their conference would take a guarantee game in our arenas!
This is not the way to establish ourselves as a legitimate power in College Basketball.

FortyNiner lays down the law right there.
Stated perfectly.

We'd be better off waiting to renew the classic A-10/C-USA challenge. If someone other than Memphis wants to step up and make that conference respectable...

yeah, if I understand this correctly, the entire conference A vs B thing was started by ESPN to entice good teams to play good teams early in the year. If that's not the case here (which it doesn't look to be), there's no reason for it.
