Nothing like trading in that Buick to a Lexus.
I know, it's a snapshot in time, but an interesting reversal.

UCLA and Arizona, the lynchpins of that league, are both bad. UCLA is awful. Tough year for the Pac-10. It would be pretty funny if old Juan Bid paid the Pac-10 a visit.

Wishful thinking. Power conference rules applied here. Somebody in that league has to win league games. They will then take the top three or four in that league and say "of course they are in, they are top three in the pac ten." Even with w/ 19-12 record.

Best-case scenario, they get 2 or 3 teams and crummy seeds akin to what the SEC got last year. The only reason they even got 3 in last year was b/c Mississippi State won the SEC Tournament. They weren't getting in without Juan's cousin Otto Bid.

The Big 12. They also have the 2 best teams.

It just isn't that the Pac 10 teams aren't good. I can never remember them being this bad. I am having a tough time picking out the worst team in the league, and that is never a good thing. There are a handful of pretty good teams, but they certainly look bad by comparison when you put them out as the class of the conference. I have to wonder what was going through John Wooden's mind yesterday as he was watching the Brutals yesterday. 6 or 7 air balls, including 1 from the free throw line... are you kidding me?

The reality is right now none of this stuff means anything, unless of course you believe St. John's is the 3rd best team in the nation and Western Carolina is #10

I don't put much stock in the RPI now, but I do put stock into the fact that a lot of Pac-10 teams are getting beaten by teams they should be embarrassed to be playing. I don't need the RPI ratings to tell me that is bad.

RPIForecast.com is much more telling at this point IMO. For example, St John's is projected 43 and Western Carolina 75th.
The projected conference rankings...
1. 0.5820 Big XII
2. 0.5801 Big East
3. 0.5765 ACC
4. 0.5592 SEC
5. 0.5520 Big Ten
6. 0.5471 Mountain West
7. 0.5422 Atlantic 10
8. 0.5370 Conference USA
9. 0.5349 Missouri Valley
10. 0.5278 Pac 10
For reference, last season the SEC was still #6 in the RPI despite how terrible they seemed. It isn't unreasonable to think the Pac 10 could be a 1-bid league (Although right now, Cal and Washington look good to make it).
