Evan Turner is now out for at least 8 weeks. I'm sorry for the kid as he seems like a class guy and is one helluva talent. However, I am certainly not sorry for the coach. He has systematically recruited guys with promises in advance, then won't even respectably use his bench. Without Turner, who Mr. Proboscis would routinely play 35+ minutes a game, Oh-ho-ho State is in deep, deep doo doo.

Toucan has made this bed by his somewhat less than truthfulness. Walter Offutt is his latest transfer, and even with Turner's injury, he is not reconsidering. Here's what Offutt was quoted to have said in this morning's Plain Dealer:

"I'm sure that coach (beak) is thinking I should have played Walt more, he could help us right now," Offutt said by phone during a visit to New Mexico, a school he is considering. "He's a good coach, but it puts you at a disadvantage when you don't play your bench more. Evan played 40 minutes a game and without him, it's really going to be a struggle. Now he needs guys to step up and guys are not going to be used to that because he relied on one or two people the whole year."

Well, well, well. Things are going so well up there. Toucan is actually lucky in one respect that Offutt is transfering since he already overcommitted his schollys for next year- even before the probable loss of another one because of Mullins early departure. That is some way to run a program. At least he probably won't have to worry about losing another early NCAA game to a team like Siena this year.

Turner was poised for a huge year. He was pretty much Ohio State's entire gameplan.

Evan Turner set a new standard of fail with that UNCONTESTED dunk attempt.

Maybe a physics 100 level class should be required for him?

Dear Evan: when you hang on the rim and don't hold onto it you will fall and make a fool out of yourself. Ultimately costing your team in the long run and eliminating any shot you had at a Big 10 title.
