View Full Version : The official Jersey Shore thread

I'm surprised this thread hasn't already been started. Great season opener on MTV last Thursday night.

It's a fun slice of southern Italy in America (why are Italians in the Northeast so different from Italians in the Midwest, who take every possible step to assimilate).

"The Situation" seems insanely confident and will learn a lot during the summer. At the Jersey Shore, you'll have a lot of competition for guid'etts. And if there's one way to piss off any guid'ette (an italian girl with tan skin), it's bringing up blonds to the jacuzzi.

Snookie is an interesting girl. She is relatively young compared to the other cast members (21). She appears unready for the entire situation. Will she last???

It'll also be interesting how the season unfolds for Angelina. She wants to appear good in front of the camera but has a wild side to her too. Some sort of implosion is likely.

Does anyone have any other thoughts? If you haven't seen the season opener, WATCH IT. great, interesting TV.

The show can be summed up in this classic quote from Snookie: "I am just going to be single this summer and find me a hot guido guy."

I look forward to the roid rage this show should produce

My thoughts:
The guys arms are huge. Damn, serious roids.
The situation Mike is a dork.
I like Vinny the best out of the guys.
The girls are horrible looking. I guess guidos prefer chubby, fake breasted, dark haired pieces of poop. I'm definitely opposite, no fake boobs, butt and leg guy, prefer blonde or brown hair.
When Paully D said that snookems looked like a chiwawa I laughed hard.

I will definitely keep watching the show because it fills a hole of my sheltered life and my wife loves these kind of shows.

Not really on the beach and stuff, usually just normal people. The club scene though I have no idea. Wouldn't be surprised.

The Jersey Shore is great television. I have so little in common with the people on the show it is so interesting to me that they can live like they do. At the end of the episode when they were showing the footage of things that will happen later in the season I watched the scene of Snookie getting punched in the head by some guy about 25 times already. She gets absolutely jacked and her hat goes flying off, it is just incredible television.

The Mrs and I were glued to the set for the entire two hour trainwreck, I mean, episode. Talk about serious roid rage potential with Ronnie and Mike. Pauly D was just too stereotypical. The chicks are decent, definitely not hot. JWOW's funbags are outrageous! This show has some serious potential for hate crimes committed against guidos.

NEW JERSEY: we don't pump our own gas, we pump our fists. (Seriously, what the hell does that mean?!?)

I now want to go to the Jersey Shore just so I can see all the guidos at the clubs. I had now idea how hilarious the guido subculture was.

I wonder if this show is going to spawn into every guy more than 1/8 Italian in every college across America acting like a guido. What a comical situation that would be.

I imagine the people in Stone Harbor and Avalon just love the image of NJ that this show projects.

Then again, I suspect they don't care, as none of these people would want the people on the TV show to come there, and the people on the TV show would feel the same way about going there.

Jersey shore in the summer is fantastically hilarious. Haven't seen the show yet but I bet it is not far off. I wonder if Oregon has the the same fist pump motto since I think that is the only other state where you can't pump your own gas. I spent a week in Point Pleasant Beach this past summer: tramp stamps, fake boobs and jacked (italian american) dudes were in abundance. I bet the show isn't far off or over the top.

It is funny you make that gas comment. My wife had a company meeting in Boston and she roomed with a girl from jersey. They went out one day in the jersey girl's car...well, they had to get gas. They got to the gas station and after waiting a solid 2 minutes at the pump, the jersey girl says to my wife, "what the hell is taking them so long?". My wife says, "what do you mean?", (wondering why this girl hasn't gotten out to put gas in the car).
After some discussion, the girl needed my wife to pump the gas because she was scared and had never done it before. The girl is 25 years of age.

That footage is the best part of the whole episode, holy crap she got crushed, it was freaking awesome. That guy wailed her and no one saw it coming.

The show is just so terrible it's almost good. The collective brain power in that house couldn't turn on a light switch. I love the fact that they couldn't figure out Snookies nickname and kept calling her Snickers, Snoop, and the whatnot. Her bringing that guy up to the deck and having him do what he did was classic.

The "fight" was even better. "The situation" or whatever his name is actually was bragging about jacking a guy who was in a choke hold from a bouncer. Hilarious.

I wish someone had told me these people really existed, because I would definitely be up for a NJ trip so I could observe them in their real habitat, and not just on TV. It's intriguing. Terrible, stupid, and yet, just great too.

Oh ya, there are people much older than that there who have never pumped their own gas. That is why you see so many 7/11s in Jersey because none of the gas stations have stores to guy in and buy things because no one gets out of their car.

I set this show to series record on the DVR as soon as "The Situation" started talking on the premiere. It's just tremendous. I never thought I'd see the day that MTV would actually find a way to top the Real World/Road Rules Challenge, but they have. If they somehow bring CT and Darell to Jersey Shore and let them destroy every guido in the house, well, that episode would be Emmy worthy, IMO.

Fred Garvin, did you used to hang out at the Windrift on Saturday afternoons and everning, practicing your future mojo for the Xavier babes?

You would have been like the guy in the car ad who congratulated his doctor on his delivery, asked the older girl to call him, and performed open heart surgery in a concert hall with a ball point pen.

What did we learn during week 2 of Jersey Shore? First off, we learned Snookie's name is now spelled Snooki for whatever reason. She likes to dance with her friend in nearly empty dive bars and make out with the same female companion in the hottub. The drama is cooking now with Angelina on the outs after breaking up with her visiting boyfriend in a club and starting all kinds of fun drama in the house when she refuses to go to work. Jwoww is also on the outs with her man after she gets drunk and plays tonsil hockey with Pauli. The Situation gets mad because Sweetheart decides to start screwing Ronnie instead, but they are both in for it when she starts flirting with a cop friend at the club. All in all this show puts morality in the backseat and lets these idiots make fools out of themselves for my enjoyment. Beautiful.

GuyFawkes38

Yougotdbagged gave a great summary of the show.

I'm honestly disappointed that Angelina left the show. She was the most attractive and semi-normal girl of the show (falling in love with a married man.....is that a good reason to leave the show???). I like Jwoww. But she came across badly this show (I blame a lot of it on MTV....lots of unattractive scenes....but cheating on your boyfriend isn't a great idea).

The big Snooki punch scene appears to be coming next week. I can't wait to get some context on that. wow....undoubtedly, one of the biggest moments on reality tv for the past few years.

Overall, I think all of the characters come across as more likable this episode.

I just watched last week's episode.

The entire punching scene was odd. It almost seemed like a staged fight by MTV gone wrong.

Or of course, maybe the simpler explanation holds in this situation. The jersey shore might just be filled with a lot of assholes willing to punch a girl.

Edit: Ok, not staged. Apparently the puncher is a high school Phys Ed teacher in NYC.

I think that the main characters are intentionally playing up the 'Guidosity' for the cameras, but when they show a lot of the club scenes there are a ton of ridiculous Guidos there too. I can't imagine that MTV is staging the club scenes. It is like a train wreck. I can't stop watching.

'The Situation' is a ridiculous parody of a person.

I enjoyed in the second episode when 'The Situation' thought that he was going to get with Sammie but she hooked up with Ronnie instead.

Ronnie is the only one that I really like on the show. He is definitely an over the top meat head but I think he is fairly likeable, particularly when compared to the rest of the cast members. He doesn't talk too much trash despite the fact that he could probably crush 95% of the people at the Jersey Shore.

I loved the first season but this one won't be able to compare. It's going to suck now that they are famous. Even more people will try to start fights with them, they will have to have security as a result. The Situation will no longer be taking home complete dogs and therefore there will be no grenades for Pauly D to fall on. Their celebrity will be the downfall of season 2.

Not to brag, but I posted that after the first episode.

I anticipated that The Situation and Snooki would become, by far, the biggest stars of the show. And Angelina left the show, leaving everyone pissed.

Those 3 characters are back this year. And that might create some big time, jealousy problems. The girls will hate Angelina. The guys will hate The Situation. And everyone will be annoyed by Snooki. There will be lots of conflict.

GuyFawkes38
