X draws more than 10,000 for their opener, UC drew only 6,777 tonight.

Come on now, they're a football school!

Doesn't sound like the bball team showed up either. They were down by 15 and barely prevailed by 6 over Prairie View. I thought they had all kinds of offensive weapons this year. Must be bad coaching...

What he said. They only show up when things are good.

UC drew another whopping 7,010 last night versus Toledo.

The excuse I keep hearing from UC people is that the football season is still going on. I guess I was unaware that both teams play on the same night.

The more I'm in Cincy, the more I'm starting to realize that UC doesn't receive very good fan support.
I know that UC has only recently succeded at football. But struggling to draw 35,000 is pitiful. For basketball, Huggins did a great job at building a passioante, city wide fan base. But Cronin seems to be struggling.
I guess commuter oriented schools with large Grad school departments aren't known for having fan support.

UC has had a very mediocre product for the last four seasons. The average fan is not impressed with Cronin. Prairie View and Toledo are dreadful teams and 5/3 Arena is a pathetic place to watch a game if you sit in the second level which are benches. When the Big East teams come to town the attendance will increase. If UC sweeps the Hawaii tourney then the fans will come out. The Huggs lovers are still not attending games. Also its a little painful to watch UC play. They lack star power and struggle for an identity. X is riding as high despite the coaching moves and graduations. Lets just be thankful for the continued success and great place to watch a game.:D

Somewhat off topic, but I think UD has passed UC as X's biggest rivalry. The Shootout is still a great game every year, but on-court stuff is only part of what makes a rivalry.
Half of what makes a rivalry is the rivalry between fans. It just isn't there anymore with UC because they don't even seem to have any fans anymore. Say what you will about UD but their fan support is outstanding, even when the team sucks.
