Watch this video. I find the lack of actual accomplishments not mentioned in the video pretty funny. Look at what they highlight.
Let's start a list.
Dayton - We're great, and here's why. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCa4A3fIHgo&feature=player_embedded)
"20 NBA players developed in 15 years" WTF? Talk about misleading advertising.
"Chris Wright - 43.5" vertical" Bullcrap. No way. He can jump, but McLean has every bit the vertical of Wright and I know McLean doesn't have a 43+" vertical. Wait 'till Wright goes to the NBA combine. Gaurantee it won't be above 40".
There's a lot more...

They were talking about how many XU pros they helped "develop".
WEAK!

You know how you define a team has sucked, and continues to suck?
They use a "projected first round pick" as an actual accomplishment. Don't forget, the multiple uses of opinion on there too. Every time, it's just pure conjecture.
20 NBA players? Yeah, um. No. No. No. Liars.
I HATE dayton.

WEAK!
They just didn't specify that the 15 years was from 1932-1947....the glory days!

I don't know what I find funnier: the fact that they take this video seriously or the "stats" and "information" that they feel is so valid. yeah.........
The best thing out of that city is Derrick Brown, and he moved onto greener pastures by first coming here then going to the NBA.
And seriously, who the hell says that they've "developed" 20 NBA players? who? please, tell me because I really don't know their relevance
"#1 basketball city in America"? lies and slander by ESPN, but it was probably dana o'neil's crazy ass opinion.
"one of the top graduation rates"? yeah, look at ours then talk.
"36 post season appearances"? great, when have those come and what have they really done with them? especially in recent years.
18-0 at home last season? right, because we can't all slobber with envy over them playing Mercer, Wofford, and Delaware State. oh and let's not forget Coppin State.
My Favorite: "Wins over Xavier the past two seasons". Yeah, what about before that? how about some season sweeps by us? short-term memory.
and 43.5 vertical leap? they're not serious, are they? who gives a crap because we know that's not his leap at all and they are pretending like NBA scouts are going to take this as his really great promotional video.
Chicago Invitational Tournament Champions? Yeah, they're following in our footsteps after WE won that the year before and I saw us beat Indiana in person.
Yeah, hold onto that video Dayton, hold it real tight because it's the best thing you have to look at besides that #22 preseason ranking nonsense that doesn't matter.
I needed a good laugh after this rough week, thanks UDump.
Who's goin to the game tomorrow?

^^^^ Great post. When being the Chicago Invitational Champs is the biggest accomplishment in Gregory's tenure, I guess you have to include it. I mean, they can't mention any conference championships, regular season or tournament because they haven't won any.

The last player drafted from dayton was Negele Knight in 1991. Dayton developed 20 players that were drafted in the NBA during a 15 year period, but not every one of those players made a roster. From what I can tell they actually accomplished this feat between 1957 - 72, and 16 of the 20 players drafted were taken in the 4th round or later. Only 5 of these 20 players even played a minute in the league.
If you never played a minute in a league, does even matter you were drafted by that league? You were drafted, but were not good enough to actually play in the league. Sounds to me like you were not an actual NBA player.
And if the players you are recruiting weren't born when the actual "accomplishment" took place, do you really believe they will fall for this line? Dayton hasn't had a player drafted in 18 years, and I am not sure how many 18 year old kids have ever heard of Negele Knight. If I am an 18 year old kid, and someone drops that BS on me, I would be trying to figure out how much liberty they took when preparing such a crazy line.

This video reminds me of a really crappy review and pulling out words to make it sound better.
Like for example. DC Muskie says Dayton is so terrible it's incredible.
Dayton PR: DC Muskie thinks Dayton is incredible!
I fart in their general direction.

Dayton has the best fans in college basketball:
I remember that article, it referred to the point that the people show up for the NCAA play in game because usually that is the only basketball they get to cheer for in March. In other words, people in UD have nothing better to do on a Tuesday night then go watch two teams play to see who gets the right to get murdered.

I'm walking (or swimming) in blood amongst sharks here but one, X Factor, how in the world do you know what is or isn't C. Wright's vertical leap and how do you know that McLean jumps just as high? Please prove it with facts.
Second, and this is weak at best but if you watch the video more then once, the video is comprised of 3 short segments which include the fans and program at first, C. Wright next, and then BG. The part about 20 NBA players developed is in the BG part at the very end and does not refer only to UD players, if any...lol, but to his tenure at Michigan St. under Izzo. OR it could possibly mean exactly what it says...as the ad doesn't say LAST 15 years, it just says "15 years". My guess is it possible UD has put 20 players in the NBA in 15 different year? I don't know. Misleading? Yes, and probably shouldn't have even been mentioned. I liked the video though as it was very well produced and it isn't much different then what allot schools do to promote a program (especially in college football and Heisman candidates).
Lash away.

I like how they have The Show on there multiple times. In fact you mention beating The Show the last two years.
I remember remember The Show bragging about being Dayton, or potential first round picks. I have the potential of getting laid tonight, but I don't go around bragging about it.

You should actually be thrilled with that. It's a prop for your program. Would you rather have us bragging that we beat George Washington or Holy Cross?

The 20 players in 15 years thing...
It's misleading, to say the least. If you have to mislead to hype your program, that's not a very good marketing ploy.
I HATE dayton.

Why would I be thrilled? Wow, Dayton beat a conference foe twice at home in last two years! Awesome! You understand how terrible that makes your program look, right?
I'm no recruiting expert or and teenage basketball player...but I would think if I was looking at Dayton and Xavier and Dayton was giving props to beating Xavier, I might consider Xavier a little more.

Or the opposite. If I was on Meth and watched these crappy promo videos from ud I might just decide to OD on the stuff.
It has to be less painful than sitting through any of that crap again.

Tell you I don't believe what? All I was giving is the explanations floating around for the 20 players in 15 years. It means one of the two things that I listed, no one's sure which though...:o
But I doubt the University pulled out numbers without some way to back them, as misleading as it might be. If that's the case why not say 40 in 25 years, or 45 in 30 years. My point is the numbers came from somewhere, no one knows exactly where though.
Ha.
I read all the posts before I watched the video.
That was laughable.

I wasted a few minutes of time researching this bullcrap. As noted in my post on the first page of this thread, the only way their claim of 20 NBA draft picks could be accurate if is they are referencing the period 1957 - 1972.
This was a time when the NBA drafted 7 rounds and only 6 of the 20 ud players drafted in the 15 year period ever played a single minute in the NBA.

Ok, I believe I am correct in saying that Dayton did not beat us at Dayton during the 2007-2008 season. Which leads to the more hilarious revelation that Dayton's "Last Two Years" means they didn't feel they had beaten enough teams last year so they added 2007-2008's victories to make them look better.
They are really saying that sometime in the last two year's they beat us...once...in FIVE TRIES!

If that is the bar then X can just point "2012 National Champions" into their next video, since we are going on possible future events.
