Who Will Win? X or YSU?

Duh! Xavier.

X has better talent, athleticism, and coaching. Throw in the home court advantage? FORGETTA-BOUT IT!

Better question:
Shark or Gorilla?

Gorilla. I think the opposable thumbs will be to his advantage. He can confuse the shark by beating on its nose. And sharks are known for bite and release so drowning won't be as much of a problem if the fight takes place in water. The big key for the shark would be the initial sneak attack. If the gorilla survives that, the shark will lose.

Definitely a more even match than X v YSU.

What? We're not playing Portland State anymore?

See, it all comes down to home field advantage. On land? Shark goes down. Just mosey on around it, maybe smell a rose or have some coffee, and then approach from behind and kick it's ass. Or, just let the sucker die right there. Gorilla wins.

In the water? I agree, blob. All depends on whether or not he can survive the initial strike.

Great points.....

The only thing I would add is if the gorilla gets off a solid first punch to the nose of a shark in water, then he might scare the shark off and score a victory. Other than that, it would be tough for the gorilla to hang in water with JAWS. If anything, the shark would just drag him under water and drown him first - or bite off a limb with his rows of jagged teeth.

On land, obvious advantage to King Kong.

Now, I'm gonna have to disagree with you there, Jim. I'm pretty sure sharks are more of a bit and release type animal. It's the dolphins that'll drag you under water. Sharks will take a quick bite first to see if you are worth tasting. Unless the shark happens to hit a major vessel on the first bite, our gorilla is going to be ready for the second strike. And he's not going to be a happy primate.

Good point. Don't get me wrong. I'm rooting for the gorilla. It just seems like insurmountable odds while in the water for our King Kong.

I think its appropriate to use Stephen Colbert's quote of bears in releation to sharks.

"They are giant marauding godless killing machines"

Back to YSU...

They were only 11-19 last year, but were probably better than the record showed. If I remember correctly, they started very, very poorly, but actually improved late in the season. That doesn't mean we shouldn't drill them, just that they're not as bad as what last year's record would indicate.

My prediction: X by 17 (how about 77-60?)

My bad. Here's an animal that obviously did not win the battle:
