For those of you familiar with WH on the A10 board following is his list of predictions for all A10 teams during the OOC campaign. WH occassionally posts on various A10 team boards, though I've never seen him here at X Hoops. He might not like this board since it doesn't allow two-letter handles. Anyway, I thought it might be fun for those who like to post here, but not at the A10 board, to have a place to sound off during the A10 OOC season. Hopefully posters on the A10 board, including WH, won't mind me swiping this.

Always a favorite. Never ceases to amaze me how WH always goes under what he really thinks will happen, and then when the games are played he actually goes over. Someone coined the great name: The A10 Suck Factor.

La Salle is huge this year OOC. For the first time since Lionel Simmons people are actually respecting La Salle. If they falter OOC, that's respect lost for the entire league, and we won't get it back. I don't trust them.

Do people actually think GW will leave non conference play with an over .500 record, let alone 9-4? They are just awful.

I used to be a big fan of the A-10. It's too bad is has become such a mess. Thanks for posting the good stuff worth reading.

From his picks for Xavier it looks like he is in the same boat as the a lot of people...no idea how good this team will or wont be. I find it odd that he has us beating Marquette but losing to Kansas St....losing to UC but beating Florida. Just like last year, we'll find out a lot about this team early because of the Old Spice Classic.

Is St. Joes really going to be that bad? I can't believe some of the teams he has them losing to. If that's the case, how strange will that be.

I can't wait for Friday!!! Go X!!!!

SJU was bad with the A-10 Plyaer of Year last season. They have had some dips in recruiting and departure of players, so yes, they will be really bad.

Marquette will be a weaker version of last year's team, but KSU will be a strong contender for the Big 12 title, which is one of the reasons why they pushed this game back a year if I remember correctly.

Yeah, Marquette graduated a lot of talent. Dominic James is gone, Wesley Matthews is gone, Jerel McNeal is gone. The only big player they have left is Lazar Hayward. X shouldn't have any problems with Marquette.

On the road in Manhattan will be a tough game this year. K-State is the sleeper pick to win the Big XII this year. Granted that is on paper, we will see if Frank Martin has the ability to coach at all with this talent (I personally don't think he is a good coach and was only hired due to his ties to big name recruits).

Thru the first weekend of games WH had the A10 going 13-1. Actual record = 11-3, so already 2 games behind his predicted pace. Long way to go though.

BTW, George Washington got a win at UNC Wilmington today. Johnny Wolf went 0-6 from the field I believe.

Pretty solid day for the A10 all things considered. Charlotte gets blown out, and the Owls and Bonnies lose heartbreakers. But on the bright side Duquesne avoids getting homered in Iowa, and GW wins their 2nd road game to open the season.

We pick up the two games lost on the first day of games, so back "on pace".

Very solid night for the A10 with Saint Louis' win over Nebraska.

A10 is 20-7 on the season (if I counted correctly), and now one game ahead of WH's prediction pace.

Do people actually think GW will leave non conference play with an over .500 record, let alone 9-4? They are just awful.

Was reminded recently that GW started last season with a 6-2 record. They then went to Hawaii and lost to Coppin State and some other horrible team, and imploded. I'm encouraged by their 2-0 start, but it's really early and the psyche of any young team can be fragile.

So a good night for the A10. No especially good wins, but no one got upset.

If you count Duquesne's game tomorrow against W. Carolina, and St. Joes game on the 30th against Rider, the predicted pace over this long holiday weekend consisting of 22 games is 8-14. So the A10 has a very real chance to pick up some games against the prediction.

That Miss St/Richmond game is going to be good. Does anyone know if Varden is playing?

I hope I got that name right.

Varnado?

For the third time in four games, All-SEC senior Jarvis Varnado registered a double-double as the Mississippi State Bulldogs (3-1) rode a tight second-half defense to a 75-50 victory against the Texas Pan-American Broncs (0-5) in Humphrey Coliseum. Don't see anything that says he won't play against Richmond.

With no games for a few days, I thought now would be a good time to update this riveting thread.

The next set of games isn't until the 28th, and then the OOC portion of the schedule is substantially over by the 6th of January. So the start to conference play is not far off.

If I've counted correctly the conference is 5 games ahead of WH's predicted pace right now. Going back over the losses in red there really isn't a whole lot to complain about in the grand scheme of things. A few games the conference would like to have back sure, but it's been a very good OOC season so far.

Fordham has been horrible of course, and UMass not much better, but kind of saved their OOC with the Memphis win. Of the better teams I think La Salle is the most disappointing. They've won the games they should, but they haven't really been in the games against the BCS chances they had.
