Unbelievable!

The game follows UC vs. St. Johns at MSG.

Needless to say there will be an anti-Xavier "group therapy" session before the game.

who the heck wants to see that one? Besides Dayton fans and the 100 fans from Fordham.

That's what I was thinking - if Dayton requires MSG and they aren't even the flagship team, why are we still playing them at Rose Hill Gym.

Ok, I see they are the latecap game (9:30 estimated start). Why am I thinking that this is more a function of St. Johns. I recall St. Johns uses MSG for bigger games since they have a small home arena, perhaps since both opponents are 45 miles apart, they called up Fordham and offered to make it a double.

I think it is a way for the schools in NY to combine and at least make it worth the while to use Madison Square Garden. Both schools have not been good this decade, and maybe they feel people from OH will travel if there's 2 schools that they might have ties with. Either way, I am rooting for no one to win those games.

This might be the worst idea of all time... two below average games in a large arena! Who stands to make money off this? They could have played these games at a high school gym in NYC and not sold them out!

But it's a Wednesday night...then again, most people in Dayton don't work

Some poster put this on the A10 site and I'm going to post it here...The Knicks have to love this because they won't be the worst team playing in the building this year

I didn't know it was on a Wednesday. Now that is just stupid.

Dayton has a fairly large NY alumni base, so I'd imagine the Flyers will have more fans than Fordham in the building that night. Granted there will only be 3,000 people in the building, but hey, that's like 2,500 more than fit inside Rose Hill!

you saying that there would be Dayton fans there than Fordham is not a shocker. Does anyone from Fordham even go to their games?

LOL...comedy, pure comedy. Why do guys even care?? If X were playing Fordham in MSG would all these posts abound about how worthless of a Wed night game it were.

"Oh the humanity! How could Dayton command a game against Fordham in MSG? We've been slighted! All the accomplishments of the last 25 years by our program, flushed right down the toilet by the NCAA for allowing UD, UD of all teams, to play at MSG in front of a sold out capacity crowd of 4k screaming insane fans to be covered live that night by CBS!!!"

Seriously? This is a non issue guys. The only people talking about this in college basketball are UD fans, 5 Fordham fans, and.............Xavier nation.;)

Actually, X played Miss St several years ago at MSG in front of a whopping crowd of a couple thousand. I thought it was pointless. It takes all the intensity out of the game and turns it into a practice. I'd rather have a hostile crowd rooting against you against a marquee opponent. That at least toughens your team up, and gives them experience. Picture X at LSU last year, or this year at Butler, Wake, and Florida.

I agree, not that the alternative is any better....AT Fordham..whooppee. Anyway, the only I see that this could benefit UD is IF somebody picks the game up on a Wed night for TV...ESPNU, Classic or maybe CBScollegesports. Other then that, this is a non event for me other then the fact UD is playing.

What he/she said. ^ ^

Who cares? If anything, it's more pub for the A-10. Even if it is at 9:30, at least it's an "event." The general consensus is that the A-10 should be stronger this year so why not applaud a game that features these two teams, even if one of them isn't Xavier. The Muskies will be showcased nationally several times this season - but I think it's important for the conference to get more teams on TV more often. Yeah, it's likely to attract about 5000 fans, but realistically, X wouldn't likely bring any more.

EDIT: I assumed this game would be on TV, at least regionally. If that is not true, then that's too bad for the conference and for both UD and Fordham. Hopefully it will get picked up...

You might be right...I don't see any other reason why they would change to MSG other then it's on TV somewhere. By playing the game on a neutral floor (I am assuming this will now be neutral court and not a "home" game for Fordham) it actually hurts UD's RPI if they were to win at MSG as opposed to a true road game...so I assume then that UD must feel that a TV game is better then the few percentage points that a road game would get us.

I haven't seen the league schedule - worst-case scenario WHIO gets the game.

This is still a very stupid idea. And for the record, the game is on (http://mattsarzsports.com/basketball2009/week10.aspx) WHIO and MSG+.

Fordham 36, Dayton 35 with just under 17:00 left in 2H. [Link] (mms://a1600.l1293741599.c12937.g.lm.akamaistream.net/D/1600/12937/v0001/reflector:41599)

Dayton really lollygagged through the first 25 minutes. The last ten have been really solid. UD up 19 now. Only intrigue left is them covering the 20 point spread.

Does Fordham have to slip to NJIT level before they get booted from the A10? The conference cannot be taken seriously with a 2-13 team residing at the bottom of the conference

Fordhams RPI today is 315. Kenpom has them at 311.

How long do we have to suffer with this joke of a program?

What really sucks is X has to play them twice this year. That's actually going to hurt Xavier greatly.

Just think about it, if we lost Fordham, no more unbalanced schedule, and no more massive RPI hits for playing this travishamockery. Fordham has to go.

I HATE dayton.
