Today at Yaeger stadium in Oxford the Muskie gridders dropped to 2-1 on the season in a tough 14-7 loss to the Redhawks. The game was marked by a number of penalties and Muskie miscues that ultimately led to the defeat. Miami opened sharp; X was sluggish at first offensively but the Redhawk defense was very opportunistic in stopping X momentum in the second half. Eric Miles returned one Miami punt for a TD in the first half; and a second punt return lfor a TD was nullified to keep X from knotting the score at 14-14 late in the game. Last second heroics from the Xavier defense stopped the Redhawks deep in X territory and several MUskie passes got the ball into Miami territory in the waning seconds but Miami's defense stopped X from scoring.

Listened to coaches and players after game. The loss hurts but there is a lot more football left in this season so they'll continue to work on getting better.
