You'd think these coaches would learn from each other's mistakes... I bet the UK faithful are really upset with losing him.

I wonder what UK would have done if he got the DUI while still coaching Kentucky. He never had a signed contract in place - could he have been fired for just cause at that point?

If he were still the coach at UK, the cops would have said, "It's ok Mr. Gillespie, we'll drive you home."

For a UK team that barely made the NCAAs one year and the NIT last year? I just don't see that happening.

Would not have happened. UK knew he was a booze hound when they hired him and added a stipulation in his contract that required him to utilize a private driver most of the time that UK payed for.

I wonder what it feels like to be such a lush that your employer writes a clause in to your contract about providing a driver for you to keep you from cruising around drunk.

Might be kind of fun to work for an employer so concerned about catering to your interests.

Yeah really.
"We know that you like to drink, so we are going to pay for a car service for you. All we ask is that you use the free car service instead of driving drunk."
My company would just fire me for getting a DUI.

I want a job that offers me a personal driver. Where do I sign up?
