"My best advice to you - shut up"
ESPN.com - Pitino Lashes Out at Media (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=4424317)
"It has been pure hell for her and my family."
This is what Pitino said about his wife - the same wife that he cheated on, no less.
"Enough's enough, everybody is tired of it," Pitino said. "We need to get on with the important things in life like the economy and really some crucial things in life like basketball."
"Everything that's been printed, everything that's been reported, everything that's been breaking in the news on the day Ted Kennedy died is 100 percent a lie, a lie," Pitino said. "All of this has been a lie, a total fabrication of the truth."
I'm not sure what Kennedy and the economy (and, for that matter, he also mentioned 9/11 as an excuse previously) have to do with this, but this is getting uglier by the day for Pitino.

Not the smartest of moves. With a criminal case pending, and he being a major player in it, well, it's just not a good move to get in front of the cameras and rail like he did.
I really don't give a crap either way about this whole thing, but where was a lawyer, a buddy, someone from the administration pulling him aside and saying "Don't do this."?
I HATE dayton.

The reason he mentioned 9/11 in the previous press conference is because his best friend and brother-in-law Billy Minardi died in one of the towers. That's why he said something to the effect of, "If i can get through 9/11, I can get through anything."
He should have clarified that cuz I knew only people in the Louisville area would get that.

It's kind of like when Jason Kidd got upset at Bob Ryan for joking about Kidd's wife at the time (now his ex-wife), saying that someone needs to slap that woman. I could understand if she took offense or if others might have, but Jason Kidd should have shut his mouth. Don't get mad at someone making a joke your wife needing to be slapped when you're the one who actually hit her.
As for Pitino, he's being revealed as the douchebag that many always thought he was. Helluva coach though!

I always thought it was pretty well known that he had a brother-in-law die in those attacks, hence the Minardi Classic he holds every year.

I did not know that. Not that that says a lot.

Pitino is a cry baby - he brought this on himself because he couldn't keep it in his pants. What does he care? UL will still pay him to coach.

Heck I would not be surprised if sometime during the basketball season his wife files for divorce and then the reporters will have an even more fun with him...

No Pitino used 9/11 as an excuse for the affair. He said he went through a lot with 9/11 and did not know many in Louisville at the time. He said he did what he did because he needed someone to take away the heart ache he had and someone to help him get through that tough time. OK so he goes and cheats on the sister of the guy who died. What a nice way to honor the guy you always say you miss. Why could he just not work with his wife to get through the grief. I know why it's called his ego.

Just checked the transcript and he did not say in his first presser if he can get through 9/11 he can get through anything. He said after 9/11 he needed a community to help him get through it and basically said the Louisville community helped him. So we are both somewhat wrong, but he threw out 9/11 to try and get people to feel sorry for him. 9/11 had nothing to do with what he did. Why not just man up and say I fucked up and am trying to correct my mistake instead of trying to find excuses and blame others?

Maybe, but connecting your wife's brother's death in any way to a sordid affair you had on, you know, the wife of the guy you're talking about is just scuzzy.

I dunno. I mean, tonight I helped install a bunch of cabinets in my brothers wifes sisters house. She's a nice woman, but if she......oooh I just got a creepy feeling. I'm going to stop now.

I'm with ya, coach. We have to get back to the crucial things in life- like college basketball. There's no need to harp on the senseless drivel... like the ruining of two family's lives. We need to talk more about that five star recruit coming for a visit on Saturday!

I'm not sure what a "fabrication of the truth" is.

I wasn't talking about us, just trying to poke fun at Pitino's drastically skewed version of reality.
