Looks like Benahan may be decommitting from UC.

'Door is open' for Behanan
The highest ranked college basketball prospect in Kentucky - Bowling Green High School junior Chane Behanan - is open to be recruited again.

Behanan, who transferred to Bowling Green from Cincinnati Aiken, had been committed to the University of Cincinnati since last summer. But his uncle, Bill Jackson, told The Courier-Journal on Monday that "the door is open."

"He still likes Cincinnati but he's open to opportunity," Jackson said. "His interest in one program shouldn't close the door on anybody else right now. . . . Anybody interested, we're going to tell them at some point in time he'll make a decision where he wants to go and that's down the road. Every opportunity needs to be looked at."

The 6-foot-7, 235-pound Behanan is ranked as the No. 86 prospect nationally in the '11 class by Rivals.com.

At this point there are no other schools being mentioned, but Jackson said the family would talk about other options as warranted, noting when other schools call now the first thing they ask is about his commitment and then they "seem to put the brakes on."

"This kid is only in the 11th grade and has his whole life ahead of him," Jackson said.

Don't necessarily believe everything that you read. Chane's handlers may be saying one thing that he's open his recruiting back up. But sources that have spoken directly with Chane say that he's still commited to UC.

Here's a free piece from BearcatLair.com on the matter...

Behanan's recruitment becoming a circus

Todd Cunningham
BearcatLair.com Publisher

Back in the summer of 2008 then sophomore to be PF Chane Behanan verbally committed to Mick Cronin and the University of Cincinnati basketball program making him the first commitment for the 2011 class for the Bearcats and quite possibly the signature recruit that class needed to help get Cincinnati back to national prominence.

Behanan was seen at quite a few home games last season watching his future school as much as he could. Every time we spoke with Behanan or his mother they had nothing but good things to say about head coach Mick Cronin and the University of Cincinnati. In fact Behanan said on several occasions that he could not wait to dawn the red and black uniform of the Bearcats.

That is why it was a surprise to see published reports from media outlets in Kentucky and some national scouting sites report that Behanan that he has decided to reopen his recruitment.

When contacted via text message earlier in the day after published reports started to surface, Behanan told BearcatLair.com's Todd Cunningham that he was in fact still 100% committed to the Bearcats and that reports to the contrary are simply not true.

So how can so many different media outlets all be wrong?

Behanan along with his mother Heaven Warren recently moved to Bowling Green Kentucky and with that move came 2 new adult influences in Behanan's life that may or may not have the kids best interests at heart.

If you read the stories about Behanan's supposed decommitment they all have one thing in common. There are no quotes from Behanan or his mother saying that he had decided to decommit. The only people quoted in all of those stories are either his mother's uncle Bill Jackson or Behanan's new high school coach DG Sherrill from Bowling Green High School.

Where are the comments from Behanan or his mother Heaven Warren saying that he was no longer verbally committed to UC? They are nowhere to be found because Jackson and Sherrill both have their own agenda when it comes to Behanan's recruitment.

Up until as recent as a few weeks ago both Behanan and his mother were the only ones that would talk about his recruitment. Now we were told today, after trying to reach Behanan's mother, that anyone that wanted to speak to either Behanan or his mom had to talk directly to Jackson because he is the one running Behanan's recruitment now. Jackson has went as far as turning off Behanan's cell phone as of Monday evening making it impossible for anyone to contact Behanan directly.

Lost in the circus of it all, (trust me Behanan's recruitment is becoming a circus because of the actions of Jackson) is what the kid wants.

It is very clear to us that what Behanan wants more than anything is to become a Bearcat. No matter what others may be saying or reporting Behanan is still verbally committed to the University of Cincinnati basketball program. How are we so sure? Behanan himself told us so prior to his phone being turned off on Monday.

Looks like Chane and his mom are saying he is still committed while his uncle says otherwise. The Jamar Butler saga proves anything could happen but several who have provided reliable info in the past feel he will wind up a Bearcat.

I think I would look to Chane and his mother on where his true plans are. His coach and uncle seem like they want some 'rub' from big time coaches and are using this talented young man to do so. IF that is the case, shame on them.

Sounds like a solid committment for UC

The 6-foot-7 Behanan (right), who made a visit to the University of Kentucky campus last weekend, came to Bowling Green after two successful seasons at Cincinnati Aiken.

I'd love for him to end up at WKU. Solid program that as a Kentucky native I enjoy rooting for.
