Not a single Big Least team was voted in to the preseaon Top 25 football poll as reported by Sporting News.
That is some football league. How they will ultimately retain a BCS Bowl bid is beyond me. At least the Mountain West can actually beat somebody. Now that Trans-greasy has retired, it will be interesting to see how far that league will fall.
Sorry, Connecticut playing LSU does not sound like an appealing matchup.

UC and Pitt will probably make some noise before the end of the year, and WVU will be ok. The BE lost a heck of a lot of talent this past year. I'm more interested in how the conference is next year.

UC lost a lot of players on defense; I just don't see their offense leading them to another title, although they might be able to manage a split between West Virginia and Pitt.
These preseason rankings are a joke. Once again ND is in the top 25. I am not saying the Big East teams are world beaters this year or any year. The Big East has to gain some respect and the restructuring occurred no that long ago. Since then a combination of 3 or 4 of these teams has made some noise each year. UC, Pitt, WVU, Rutgers and South Florida and UL. USF and WVU controlled their own destiny to make the title game and blew it.
Before the restructure, Miami, Pitt, Va-Tech, WVU and sometimes BC were all pretty solid.
This year, UC, WVU, Rutgers, Pitt and Uconn all have solid teams. I think in this particular poll the Big East came it with teams at 29,30,31,32. Not that far off. This conference has alot to prove but it is way better than some want to believe. The Big 11 only has 2 teams in the top 25.
As for UC's defense, they lose 11 guys and have 11 guys who are as good as that defense, probably more. If you watched UC at all last year, the backups played alot of minutes ad were just as solid. It will be interesting but the Big East is not a bad football conference at all. Some just have fun ripping it. The SEC is the only prominent conference right now anyway.

I don't know about you guys but if UC was playing the Suckeyes in football I am 100% rooting for UC. I went to a UC football game for the first time last year (against Pitt) mainly to go and have a good time and drink some beers. I can honestly say that it was one of the best atmospheres for a local sporting event I have been at since the Bengals playoff game in 05. That place was nuts and Nippert is a great venue to watch a game. I highly recommend you X guys go check out a game this year (since you don't have a team like I don't) it is worth it.
The Big East in football is kind of like the A-10 in b-ball. Not a major power conference but the next level below.

Nippert Field is easily the best thing about UC. I love that little stadium. Everything else in Clifton sucks.

That would be having to choose between the Minotaur and the Lernaean Hydra. Both horriffic.
I'd hope they'd destroy each other!!!!

I could not agree more. I rarely go to UC games but I go to at least 2 or 3 high school games there a year and it is my favorite place to watch a game behind Ballaban Field and The Pit. When they hold games at PBS over Nippert I get pissed because quite frankly I find PBS to have little character and the seats are too far from the field.
That would be me! :)
I have no problem with that. You are not alone. I just saw the thread and threw in my 2 cents as a UC fan. I only stick up for them so much b/c I have only ever really liked UC football but rooted pretty hard for ND also when I was younger.
More of an OSU hater too.

Most conference rankings seem to have The Big East at #7 behind the Mountain West this year. One guy had the SEC at #1, and he said, "I think I have them under-ranked."

I agree. It's a great venue for a game. In fact, it's where I saw my very first football game in 1984 ... as a 3-year-old. I don't even have a problem rooting for the Bearcats in football. After all, UC Football has nothing to do with Bob Huggins.

No, but success in football would fund their basketball program on a higher basis.
I say, screw 'em. An enemy is an enemy- even with different clothes on.
Nippert is an excellent place to watch a football game. Agree with Juice on Ballaban Field and the Pit being great places as well.

Nippert sounds like a great setting to watch a game. But I did hear on WLW that there's a lot of speculation that Brian Kelly is making a big push for expanding the stadium (more seats and luxury boxes).

Have you been to Mac's Pizza Pub for a Macover? Freaking phenomenal.
You can't beat Clifton for cheap eats and drinks.
