he will get his chance to make an impact. I work in the minors and the Nationals farm system is not all that great, so if can make make a name for yourself you will move up the ladder fast. He has a chance as long has he can show he can do that in every level he pitches. Mike Piazza was drafted in the 65th round, or something like it, so anything is possible, especially if its the nats minor league system.

I'd also add that the goxavier site is misleading saying that Danny was 2-5. I looked up his stats this season and he had an ERA of about 2.40 over 100+ innings in Hagerstown. He didn't get much run support. I also saw that he started the All-Star game for that league. Solid to see from some former X-men.

What's he need to do to get promoted? Still stuck in A ball in Potomac after 7 starts there last year and 4 more this year with an ERA under 3 both years. He's 23, so he's not exactly young by baseball standards for A ball. Seems to me that it's about time for him to hit AA.

Potomac ia advanced A, so AA possibly this summer. AAA clubs are "insurance policy" guys, so most of the prospects come out of AA. His era is still good and the guys he plays with aren't the most stellar on defense. I think he's still on track for a cup of coffee late this year and if he does well may get on the 40 man roster for spring training. His stuff isn't overpowering or he would already be there, but he gets people out. LHP always in huge demand.

Rosenbaum had a little problem with the base on balls early in the season that he seems to have solved. He's too old to spend a whole season at high A with his stats. The Nats need to get him to AA and see what they've got in him.

It doesn't look like he'd be called up this year; Rosenbaum isn't on the active 40-man roster for Washington. I don't think he can be called up at this point (unless he's allowed to replace someone who is either released or placed on the 60-day DL).

Hopefully he'll have a good shot at a 40-man spot for 2012. My guess is that their rotation will definitely include Strasburg, Jordan Zimmerman, and John Lannan; who knows how their other spots will shake up.

Maybe PMI and District of Columbia Muskie would know better than I would.

He doesn't need to be on the 40 man to get the call. Just cuz he not on the 40 man doesn't mean he not outperforming Pitchers on the 40 man. They have two more years before they have to add him to that. My guess he won't get called up unless there's an injury or they just want to take a look after his season's over with Harrisburg. I'm guessing he'll get invited to spring training with the big club. For a guy picked 651 picks behind Strausburg, it would be a fairy tale for sure.

Here's what a blog named Touch 'em All says about Rosenbaum prior to his last start (7 more shutout innings). I think his comments about age are right on, and I'm not quite sure why the Nats haven't put him up against players his own age yet, but so far so good I suppose:

yes the Rule 5 Draft has been around for a very long time. However most players do not last the year on the big league roster that they were drafted by. Usually they get sent back to their orginal team for a fraction of a coast. Its a a gamble draft really. Only a handful of guys have gone on to stay with the team. Dan Uggla is probably the biggest recognizable name right now. Ryan Flaherty stuck with the ORioles last year but that was mostly due to necessity out of injuries. Jose Bautista was a Rule 5 pick by the Orioles back in the day but didn't stick and was sent back to the Pirates. Maybe they should have had more patience with him.

Danny made his first start coming off Tommy John surgery on Saturday for the Lowell Spinners of the short season New York Penn League. 4 innings, 2 hits, 2BB, 2K and 1 unearned run. That's got to be considered a successful return. I wonder how long Boston will keep him in the low minors before getting him up to Portland or Pawsucket.

The end may be in sight for young Mr. Rosenbaum. He's been awful in A and AA ball this year. Hopefully the Sox make allowances for the fact that he was coming back from TJ surgery and give him another shot next year, but this is a lost year for sure.

He's doing rehab starts. He's going to get smacked around. Only a yr. since the surgery. I would guess 18-24 mos. before returns to full velocity. Problem with Danny is he never had the the 90+ hummer anyway. He could hit the spots, tho. His age is definitely working against him. Hope someone gives him a shot.

Saw Danny pitch for the Scottsdale Scorpions (as a selected member of the Boston Red Sox) in the Arizona Fall League. The Red Sox are wanting him to pitch in relief. Hoping he continues the good results so far and realize his MLB dream.
