Sidiki Johnson to Arizona (UPDATED)

Sidiki Johnson, a 6-foot-8, 220-pound rising junior forward from St. Raymond’s High School in The Bronx, gave a verbal commitment to Arizona on Saturday after first reaching out to the coaching staff Thursday.

“I committed Saturday,” said Johnson, who lives in Harlem and is ranked No. 56 by Rivals in the Class of 2011. “I like everything [about the school]. I feel comfortable there. I got a great relationship with Coach Sean Miller. I just like everything about the school.”

***Arizona assistant coach Emanuel “Book” Richardson, a New York native, was once again influential in bringing a New York City kid to the Desert.

“Book, me and him are real close,” Johnson said. “We real cool. “It means a lot to just know that when I go to school out there, I’ll be taken care of.”

Yeah much better like Jordan Lathum's 24th ranking for power forwards and his huge list of offers from Xavier, Oregon State, and Richmond. Or Jeff Robinson and his and his gaudy numbers in high school. But wait a minute X got Jordan Crawford. Oh I forgot he was not a recruit but a lucky transfer after Tom Crean did not want him because of his off the court activities.

Watch out college basketball Xavier is a force to be reckoned with on the recruiting trail.

Get you head out of the clouds.

I wonder how long Book will be an effective NYC recruiter. Eventually, the kids he worked with pre-Xavier AAU will all be gone. Pretty soon we'll see whether his recruiting ties last. Tough to move 2,000 miles away just for one coach.

I feel the same with Orlando Ranson, although I think Orlando is connected to a better area(please don't turn this into an NYC vs. DC/MD battle!).

Some UD posters talk a big game in the preseason, but once the actual season starts, they all vanish. That's interesting to me.

This guy is an unranked recruit with offers from Jacksonville and Oakland (the schools, not the NFL franchises) for his typing, grammatical, and trash talk skills.

Flyers better get focused on that daunting OOC schedule, don't want to trip up against Presbyterian.

Here is the ultimate hypocrisy post. A UD fan telling xavier fans to "Get our heads out of the clouds." Are you saying the same things to your fellow fans predicting final fours and top ten rankings in two years???

It's like the Cubs giving a lecture on on how to win a World Series

A UD fan coming over to a Xavier message board and telling Xavier fans to get their heads out of the clouds. Obviously the best way to make an impression. We Xavier fans can't wait for some more constructive criticism from a fan base that is so clearly more civilized and level headed.
