From FSR (http://msn.foxsports.com/cbk/story/9836316/Memphis-commit-Williams-continues-overseas-trend)

"We wish him the best," Pastner said on Tuesday morning after hearing the news circulate that Williams wasn't going to be attending college.

Williams put out a news release on Tuesday morning but still hadn't notified Pastner or the Memphis staff as of early afternoon.

"It was a difficult decision," Williams said in the release. "But after consulting with a number of people, and taking my family situation into consideration, playing overseas is the best move for me."

I know this kid pretty well. Zero chance that he was going to qualify for college despite the report in this article that he was 50-50. He really didn't have an option, so it shouldn't be made into more than what it is.

At least he could call the coach and tell him before he finds out from a reporter.

Translation: I'm a dumbass who couldn't pass the shop class. My parents should have hired Sister Rose last year.

Some people just aren't meant to go to college.

Some people just aren't meant to go to college.

So then they go to UD (Also applicable: UC, Memphis, Kentucky among a long list of "distinguished places of higher learning").

Rudy is the most overrated sports story of all time. But it's Notre Dame so what do you expect?

I don't know. There was Back to the Future VIII when Michael J. Fox went back to the 60's to figure out what happened to Dayton's basketball team. It was shot in the late 80's. I remember the nutty professor coming back and telling MJF that he had been to Dayton in 2010, and the players were all nerds and the coach was a midget. "They even have a traffic cone playing forward!" I think it went straight to DVD.

Because most of its untrue.

My friend has a relative that was on that team and they said Rudy was pompous jackass that no one liked and no one likes him to this day.

I've heard that about Rudy as well. Notre Dame people hate him but everyone else assumes he is a great guy and love the story.
