Dick Weiss laments why Book didn't get snatched up by some Big East team.

Book wasn't much, if any, of a bench coach. But he's a hell of a recruiter.

Great inside tidbit re: Momo & Book...
Emanuel “Book” Richardson, an assistant to Arizona head coach Sean Miller,
is Jones’ Godfather,
but Jones told GOAZCats.com that family was not the deciding factor in the decision.

Most UofA fans (myself included) thought for sure he was headed to UF. However, as the process drew out longer, we knew we had a better shot at landing him. Book is an incredible recruiter and he seems like a very good man as well. Momo actually commited to USC while Book was at the UofA and didn't even bother to visit. USC then imploded and this is now momo's 5th commitment. He commited to UL x2, VT x1, USC x1, and Arizona last. He can't sign an LOI, but will sign scholarship papers.

Sounds like Momo has his head screwed on straight and really knows what he wants.

Sounds like Momo has his head screwed on straight and really knows what he wants. I know right. He really adds to our depth, but I'm still concerned with post depth.

Well I wouldn't be too concerned. Even if AZ struggles this year with things like post depth, the down times won't last long. As much as my opinion of Miller has drastically changed over recent months, the fact that he can coach has not. He was left with very little when he took over at X, but he added talent and grew as a coach. He'll do the same in the desert.
I may not like Miller after seeing how he went about things and realizing that he was blowing smoke up our arses for five years. But it's the ability to get Xavier Nation to believe those things that makes him so good. The man is a gifted salesman who can get you to buy his product. Whether it's getting fans to believe his "we're elite" message, getting players to buy into his "team/family" concept, or getting recruits to believe that his program is the one for them...this guy is very, very good. Sure, he might be a liar, an a-hole, whatever. In his line of work the only thing that most people care about is if you win. And he does that.
Again, I don't like the man (mostly because I fell for his BS). But he's a good basketball coach and he's going to win.

If you think he is bad, you'd love Calipari. I think the difference is that Miller finds ways to do it the right way and Calipari is so good at breaking the rules he takes that route. We just added some depth in our front court getting Derrick Willams so my mind is at ease a bit more.

JCO17,
The major difference between Sean Miller and John Calipari is Sean Miller would have been out on his ass if he elasticised the NCAA rules the way Calipari did and does.
Sean Miller will do what he HAS TO to win. It's up to Arizona to be watchful and guide.:D:D

While we won't know for sure unless it actually happens, I seem to think Q might be right. I have a feeling Xavier had a whole lot to do with making sure things were done the right way. If Sean is given a whole lot of rope in Arizona, I wouldn't be surprised if he wound up hanging the whole program. Not saying it's going to happen, just that I really wouldn't be surprised.
So I was walking into the Covington Rivercenter Marriott two days ago (Monday, July 6th) to workout (I live right by it and the workout facility is excellent), and who do I bump into in the elevator but Book Richardson . He was wearing an Arizona Basketball polo shirt, and the younger guy he was with had a Xavier Basketball shirt on (appeared to be a manager that had probably followed Miller out there). I didn't have the guts to say anything to him or ask him any questions, and I figured it better that way, as he seemed tired, and I mat have said something that I would have later regretted, or poorly reflected on Xavier and our fanbase. So I just kept my mouth shut and nodded as I got off the elevator.
Thoughts on this? I don't know what Book was doing back in the Queen City, but possibly on the recruiting trail, I'm assuming. I looked at who he has targeted for the next couple of years on Rivals and there's no one from Cincinnati on the list. Any thoughts?

Miller and staff were here for the AAU tourney that's over at UC.
Thanks for the clarification.

I would have asked him why he goes by "Book" when he has a nice Christian name like Emmanuel. Emmanuel as in Immanuel meaning "God with us."
And related to the omnipresence of God as in "immanence."
Or I would have asked him to return Parrom.

Parrom is loving Arizona. The day he went on his visit, he told everybody he was gonna commit. I thought he was headed to Pitt the way most of his interviews went. He mentioned that he wanted to stay close to home, but he liked the coaching staff and wanted to visit.
I think you guys will fill Parrom's hole with Justin Martin if he gets his grades in order. Parrom may or may not have played signifigant minutes at X his freshman year. He's been steadily improving though and is impressing the coaches and the staff at GoAzcats. The most impressive freshman for us have been Momo Jones and Derrick Williams in that order. Kryl had an injury to his ankle at the end of his AAU career and is still trying to get in shape.
Martin is a good player and will do very good in your system at Xavier, assuming of course, Mack will use the same system Miller uses.

As soon as the Parrom/Arizona link was mentioned I figured that's where he would wind up. Hey, Rick Pitino, er, John Calipari, er, Sean Miller is very persuasive. I do think you will like having him out there. He'll bring in talent and he'll coach winning basketball. It's not always pretty, but it's effective. I still think he needs work on the offensive side of things, but a great defense and average offense can win a lot of games.
That being said, the longer he's not at X, the less I'm upset about it. Yes, he's a good coach, but I having a feeling Mack is going to be just as good. And I also think Mack is every bit the recruiter that Miller is. To top it all off, Mack is a Xavier guy. I heard he had a blood test the other day and they made a dicovery. His blood type was X. What a guy!
