Yeah, I know it's from Rain Man but I'm at the Kmart Blue Ash store (there aren't many around these days) today and I see the same Sony 7 inch Screen DVD player for $129.99 that Target is selling for $99.00, which I was going to pick up for a vacation trip. So, anyway, I ask the Clerk, "Do you guys price match?"
To my dismay, the clerk without a beat says, "Nope". Okay, no wonder Kmart sucks and that almost all of them have gone by the wayside. Instead of getting a sale from me in which they would have made some money, they got nothing. So, now I'm headed over to Target on Thursday. What a shitty store too. The place looked terrible.

Did that scaled down Target in Blue Ash open yet or are you referring to Oakley?

Wow. You have a K-Mart that is still open?

You actually think a clerk at KMart has any clue on price matching?
He was just hoping you'd go away so he can take another smoke break.

The Target in our general area (the Colerain store) is always bright and clean and the shelves are always well stocked. They have competitive prices and the people working in that store seem knowledgable, friendly, and accommodating (i.e. very un-K-Mart-ish).

I am amazed that any K-mart stores still exist. They are awful. Simply awful.

It's a safe bet that, if you're walking into a K-Mart, you're walking into a shithole. The majority of those stores are filthy, overpriced, under-staffed wastelands. They make Wal-Mart seem like Saks, but with better prices.
I can't stand K-Mart...and, like I said, the stores are awful too.

Yes, but you can get your Craftsman tools there

Only buy Craftsman hand tools (wrenches, hammers, etc.). NEVER buy a Craftsman product that has a motor.

There is a Gold Circle still operating. I won't say where, because I want it all to myself.
I HATE dayton.

I cannot believe Gold Circle is still open. I remember them well.
The K-mart I went to is off of Hunt Rd. and Reed Hartman and it DOES suck big time. I just happened to be over there for something else and I was hoping not to make another stop but thanks to their shitty prices, I was forced to do so anyway.

Anyone remember Silverman's? How about Kresge's (whose owner created the K-Mart chain)?

Gold Circle used to be just like K-Mart or Wal-mart before they had them. They went out of business around here in the 80's.

Well, not really. Gold Circle started after Wal-Mart started. It was a discount department store though. See also: Service Merchandise.

As a former Softlines Manager of Kmart...I was trained at the Blue Ash Store before getting trnafered to Newport Ky, then Delhi, then London Ohio then Middletown then I quit. So unless they changed their policy they do match competition. They keep other stores ads at the service desk to prove the price is lower. I worked for Kmart for 4 1/2 years (and still got vested so I have money coming to me when I retire) and I had to honor prices from all the competiton plus I had to go out and check prices myself to see what underwear was selling for....
