If that happens, don't be concerned if you see me crawling around looking like I lost something. I'll simply be looking for my balls after I laughed them off!

If I were running the show at USC, I don't even worry about hiring a permanent coach right now unless I get word that the guy at the top of my list wants the job. But that probably won't happen so I would wait until after next season and make the push for the guy I want. I just think it would be tough to get that guy in the middle of June. Name an assistant as the interim coach and wait it out.

What did the guy do to never get another shot? He knows the west coast. I know the end was rough at UCLA but he did get far with them a couple times and its not like USC demands the same results UCLA does.

You have to be a special kind of awful to manage to run UCLA into the ground.

He went to 4 sweet 16's and an elite 8 in his 7 years along with a second round. Obviously not up to UCLA standards but he didnt run the program into the ground. I think he could be a successful coach again.

So, 4 out of the 7 years, he had one of the best teams in the country at the end of the season. Man, I guess I need to learn what running a program into the ground means. X would build a statue for someone like that.

No kidding. At the time he was the only coach other than Coach K to take his team to 5 sweet 16's in that six year span.

Lavin wasn't fired for all of the good things that he did. He was fired for going 10-19 his last season with the program obviously headed in the wrong direction. He had become more interested in "recruiting" UCLA cheerleaders than McDonald AA's.

I'm not saying he was a great coach or he didnt have his flaws but I feel like he did a god enough job to warrant job opportunities at other schools especially ones like USC. I think he likes his current job though because I just saw he turned down NC State in 2006 and there was rumors of him going to San Fransisco (his hometown) in 2007.

4 Sweet Sixteens, 1 Elite Eight and 1 ten win season in 7 years at UCLA is atrocious.

Your acting as if UCLA should win every year. They have won the National Championship once since John Wooden left as coach. 34 years ago. There has been 8 coaches since Wooden and only 3 of them have been to the final 4. It isnt like Lavin is the only coach at UCLA who didnt get to a final four. He had a pretty good run there. It wasnt quite up to UCLA standards but to say he ran them into the ground is asinine.

His last season they won 10 games. That's pretty much in the ground.

They were back in the ncaa tourney 2 years later. How is that a program that was run into the ground?

You only put five players on the floor at a time. At a place like UCLA it's not that tough once you have someone who knows what they're doing to straighten out a program very quickly.

If you've ever seen the UCLA cheerleaders, you can't blame the guy.

If that's "running a program into the ground" then sign me up.

Yes, but taking 2 at a time is just plain greedy.

How different would life be if he had taken the AZ job not Miller? We'll never know. Revisionist history is a pain.
However, perpetuating females stereotypes is not. Post on...

Call me greedy then. Good things come in pairs. Or groups of more than two.
