An excerpt from new book,
Longshot: The Adventures of a Deaf Fundamentalist Mormon Kid and His Journey to the NBA
by Lance Allred, former baller @ Utah for RM
“Lance, you’ve weaseled yourself through life using your hearing as an excuse,” Majerus once told Allred, as corroborated by some of his teammates. “You’re a disgrace to cripples. If I was a cripple in a wheelchair and saw you play basketball, I’d shoot myself.”

I didn't want to start a new thread for this, but look at the quality people Majerus is recruiting to SLU. The kid faces possible weapons charges and also possibly being the getaway driver of a bank robbery.

Majerus is the scum of the earth and SLU sold their souls to the devil big-time by hiring him. The worst part about it is that he isn't winning games, either. They need to get rid of this guy before he does long term damage to the program.

I was going to add quotations, but I figured he wouldn't if he was writing it. And I don't want him to search me out and eat me.

Seriously?
Yeah. Long term damage like a NCAA suspension, postseason ban, or loss of scholarships. Long term reputational damage as well (see: the Cincinnati Bengals).
Man, there's a lot of hate for the big guy here. I actually kind of like Majerus. I think he's funny. Sure, he's a nut, but he doesn't seem to have the same hate appeal to me as, say, Thuggins.

Going out on a limb, huh? I'm guessing most of us will do that, whether we're big, fat tubs of goo like Majerus or not.

Yes, but Majerus' affinity for twinkies will certainly expedite his demise. Just because we're all effectively stuck driving toward the end of a cliff, doesn't mean it's ok to drive as fast as possible. Enjoy the scenery a bit. Majerus has his turbo-engine on cruise control at 150 mph. He'll be dead in less than 10 years. No doubt.

What are you talking about?
Has Majerus ever even had a major NCAA violation? Almost 100% sure he has not.
Check out this article:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/inside_game/magazine/life_of_reilly/
Here is an excerpt:
"And I don't want to hear how clean the Utah program has been either, or how, under Majerus, the Utes have had four Academic All-Americas in the last five years, more than any other Division I basketball program. Clyde Barrow used to floss. So what?"
Read the article so that paragraph makes more sense, but I wanted to point out the bolded points.
For all the bad stories about Majerus out there, there are good ones too. Not every player is going to like him, but there are players who would do anything for the guy.

See also: shooting off his mouth about abortion while coaching at a catholic school. Pulling scholarhips from players, and now the alleged offering of a bank robber. I know that you go to SLU and you want to slob on Majerus' knob but the guy doesn't have a pristine reputation.
The 'his players would do anything for him' excuse is what everybody says when their coach is kind of an asshat (see Bobby Knight in the later years).

You have no idea what you are talking about with pulling scholarships. You sound like the people who said that Andrew Taylor had his scholarship pulled and that Charles Bronson was forced to leave. Shut your mouth.
Plus none, I repeat none of those things cause NCAA suspensions, post season bans, or loss of scholarships, so I'm not really sure where you are going with that. Feel free to admit you have no clue.
The scholarship offer for that kid was rescinded as well.

I'm sure Majerus' behavior isn't that far off from Sean Miller or any head coach. Majerus just needs a better PR team.
I'd advise any college basketball fan to be careful about questioning the ethics of another coach, because there's a good chance that your coach has crossed the line a few times.

And you can feel free to lick my undercarraige.
Show me where I said that Majerus had any previous NCAA suspensions. My statements were based on a limited sampling of actions as I don't research SLU and their coaches in my spare time. I don't know if Majerus reads to orphans in his spare time, and frankly I don't really give a shit.

Well considering you said SLU should get rid of him before he causes them to get NCAA sanctions and nothing he has done there to date would even come close to causing that, I thought you may have thought this was something Majerus had done before. Why else would SLU be worried about that?
Basically it all comes down to you having no idea what you are talking about and someone calling your bullshit.
SLU, Majerus, and I accept your apology.

Pure and simple, the Jesuit fathers at SLU can't be too happy about a coach who whips his schlong out to make a point. Nor can they be too pleased about a coach who makes the remarks he made to a disabled player.
All that said, Rick Majerus will take care of Rick Majerus' future. How? If he doesn't start winning, there will be plenty of empty seats in that new arena and the alums who have contributed the big bucks will handle the problem. Can you say buyout?
For years, people thought Huggy was a god because he won. When he stopped short of national championships, his foibles caught up with him. Majerus will suffer the same fate if he doesn't win and win big, damned soon. All the foibles in the world are wiped clean by a string of winning seasons. :D:D

Neither of which happened at SLU though.
I agree with you though, Majerus needs to start winning and if he doesnt he will face scrutiny. Although SLU being the only basketball in town really keeps people coming in itself. SLU has averaged 9,000 fans a game for the last several years (dont know how far back) and they havent even come close to getting to the NCAA tourney.
I have been saying all along I think SLU will be NCAA tourney bound not this year but next when Majerus' first recruiting class are juniors.

Ok. I will admit that I crossed a line and apologize for some of my comments.
I would also like to note, however, that I voiced an opinion about an opposing school's coach, and he took it to the "no have no idea what you are talking about", "shut your mouth" level. When somebody tells me to shut my mouth that is when I stop being polite.

You said SLU should get rid of Majerus before he brings major problems like NCAA sanctions and such which implies Majerus would do something to bring that when he never has in the past and hasnt to date at SLU. So basically you didnt/dont know what you are talking about.

I said that in a thread about Majerus allegedly offering a scholarship to a kid who was the getaway driver for a bank robbery. I don't see the big leap between offering a scholarship to a bank robber and possibly getting in trouble with the NCAA or harming SLU's reputation. Do you think this is positive publicity for SLU? Is it a major leap of logic to assume that a person who is offering scholarhips to felons could bring violations and/or dishonor upon the university? I am not an expert on his past behaviour, but his current behaviour sure as hell suggests that he is capable of doing long term damage.
You could argue he has already made SLU look bad with his comments on abortion and exposing his wang, but that really depends on your view of what it means to coach at a Catholic institution and what kind of behaviour you feel Catholic schools should expect/require from their employees.
In short, you are free to disagree with me but to say that I don't know what I am talking about suggests that you are either a dick, or you aren't able to accept that someone could have an opinion that differs from your own that is based on fact and every bit as valid as your own opinions. My reaction was too strong, which I will freely admit, but your attitude in your response struck a chord with me.
Maybe he won't bring NCAA violations, which is just one part of my post that you seem to have singled out to base your assertions about my character on, but there are other ways that he can damage the program. I would say that he hasn't really brought a lot of positive stuff to SLU yet, on or off the court. ...but I don't know what I am talking about, because their is no way that Saint Richard Majerus could possibly besmirch the good name of Saint Louis University.
