View Full Version : Mike DeCourcy: Sean Miller adjusting quickly to life out West

Per SportingNews.com.........
Arizona's conference affiliation and brand recognition are improvements over Xavier. One advantage that's less obvious is that Miller was able to hire his brother, Archie, as assistant coach. A nepotism rule prevented that five years ago at Xavier. Miller also brought along assistants James Whitford and Book Richardson from his Musketeers staff and will fill his director of basketball operations position once he finds the right person with West Coast connections.

I'm not so sorry to announce that his dealership was turned over to a young up and comer as apart of the GM restructuring deal. The gov't felt that he was too greedy and will redistribute any of his future success throughout the NCAA.

I'm wearing a Buick Hat to the first game. (I have one that just says Buick across the front). It's from the Buick golf tournament of a few years ago.

This picture of the world's most dominant athlete next to the vehicle whose make describes the Xavier program also contains some text to describe of one of Jordan Crawford's and Mark Lyons' many offensive threats.

I wish Miller would have taken a front office gig with one of the Japanese manufacturers. Would have been nice to see him relocate overseas.

Oh, I get it...we don't remember the guy who led us to an elite 8, sweet 16, A-10 championships etc. I know what he did was sh!t but do we really need to keep acting like 6th graders about it? The comments were made, the damage was done, why can't we be the better person about this and just let it go.

I agree but honestly I didn't read this article because I don't care. He left, so good luck and goodbye. Have a nice life and here's to X kicking your ass some day.

Or, rather, why can't we make jokes about it on a message board without you getting your panties in a bunch?

I agree except for the part about having a good life. And the good luck part. I don't agree with that either.

I think many will start being the better person when... Sean Miller starts being a better person about this whole X to Arizona thing.

It is kind of funny how our opinion changes. When Miller was at X, anyone who criticized him in any way was a traitor, and 100% wrong about those critical comments. Now that he's gone, HE'S the traitor and completely in the wrong as to anything he says or does, and it's as if his accomplishments at X never happened.
I don't know why it's so hard to accept the fact that he was here, did a good/very good job, and then moved up to a higher-paying job at a higher-profile school in a higher-profile conference. We expect our coaches to visit each of us personally and ask our approval to take another job.

I think we all tend to take this kind of thing personally, as if it's Sean did something directly to us. He didn't. He didn't assualt us or steal from us. He just left in a crappy and dickish kind of way. I lost respect for the guy but I don't think about Sean anymore. I don't think about Matta either. I choose to put my energy into the guys that want to be here; both the players and coaches. I think Mack wants to be here and will stay (provided he has success) much longer than Sean. I chose Mack over Miller.

Yes. I spend so much time acting like an adult it's nice to have a safe anonymous place to go and act like a 6th grader

Same as above. I spend so much of my life trying to be the better person and it's nice to have some place safe and anonymous to visit where I can occasional be a complete ass.
It's the off season. This is going to keep up at least until the season starts. Find your own way to deal with it and please lay off the rest of us.

Of course not.....that's silly. There's no way they could visit all of us personally. But I do expect them to consult me first.

I expect them to go away and not have a press conference to tell me how pretty I am. I know that already.

Anything Mike D. writes has a definite UC bend to it. It just is what it is.
We'd all save our stomachs a bunch of acid if we just ignore anything written about Sean Miller and Arizona.
And please, just because somebody --an ignorant troll--says something bad about one of Xavier's players, consider the source. Ignore these trolls or fair weather fans, they aren't worth the words.:D:D

I totally agree - is there now a rule where we must be nice to Miller because of where he brought us? Ummmm he left and didn't even give us a glance out of his rear view window - not very respectful... so why do we have to be? I think someone compared it to him not kicking us or hurting us personally, last I checked no one on this board or from the Xavier community did either.

Fred,
I don't know how to respond as you have thrown three pointless jabs without a knockout. Conflate? Really, did that make you feel good? The legacy of your inane posts is a history of irrelevance. You are the Dayton of this board in that you always talk and suck when it matters.

I think it is funny how your opinion changes. You were all on Matta's ass and then you defended him once he was gone and praised him for being one of our best coaches. You brought the heat to Matta when he was our head coach and advocated a coaching change.
As far as Sean Miller goes, you advocated firing him and hiring Ron Everhart of Duquesne. I don't know the last Xavier coach that we have had that you wouldn't have fired. That is my honest take.
I wonder what the time frame will be until you turn on Chris Mack. I expect a brief honeymoon.
Maybe we should Forget about what you have said in the past.
Maybe we should Assume that you know better than us.
Maybe we should Gage the coaches worth based upon you demented metrics.
