Title BU have you seen Austin play? Curious to know because he holds an offer from the Musketeers. I am also not sure what part of the state Arcadia is in.

Hamilton Heights is about 20 minutes north of Fishers/Carmel so about 45 minutes to one hour from Indianapolis depending on traffic.
Apparently Austin played very well at the Spiece Tournament in Ft. Wayne last weekend.

Steele has ties to the Spiece program. Hamilton heights is orange and white, the Huskies and they play in my old high schools football sectional. That is all the information I pocess!

One of the reasons (along with Kelsey) that I wondered if we might get in on the Teague sweepstakes.
That's not intended to change the focus of this thread...back to Etherington.

Etherington was on campus this past weekend for an unofficial.
I'm still worried about Butler though (flashback to Matt Howard).

Sounds like Austin has picked up an offer from New Mexico (coached by former IU great Steve Alford).

Austin visited Purdue this week and will be at IU's camp this weekend.

Austin is one of Indiana's "Elite Camp" invites. Tom Crean will get a good look at him and we'll know how interested IU is.

Etherington picks up IU offer
A little new for this Saturday evening as word comes from the Hoosier State that Hamilton Heights (Ind.) wing Austin Etherington picked up an offer from Indiana.
The 6-foot-6 Etherington is an intriguing Class of 2011 prospect.
He's a talented kid with a huge upside - in my opinion - because of his past history. He missed an entire season with a knee injury this spring is just getting back into tip-top shape on the court.
Etherington also has offers from New Mexico and Xavier and is also getting some serious interest from, Butler, Purdue and Northwestern among others. His father, Brett, played ball at Butler.
IU already has one commitment in the '11 class - guard Matt Carlino of Bloomington South.

The rumor running around the state right now is that the IU staff has put a time limit on Austin to accept his offer.

Jody Demling in Vegas day 2:
•Indiana target Austin Etherington had the best game I have seen from him this afternoon also for Indiana Elite/Team Indiana. He only had 12 points but did a little bit of everything and made a huge play in a close game late on defense. People forget the kid only played seven high school games last season after an injury. He's going to be a star.

Just heard that Austin's family lost their home in a fire this weekend. I know he's a big target for us, but regardless if he commits to X or not-I wish his family well.

Where did you hear this? I see nothing in the local news.

If this is true, I'd say the new strategy should be to take two wings for the 2010 class. Hopefully out of the group of Martin, Canty, and Jones.

IU really isn't too far away from being solid. I wish Etherington the best of luck.
I'm now really on the bandwagon for a Latham, Jones, Canty, Spoon/McKenzie 2010 class. Although I wouldn't mind Martin either.

Alex Etherington, a promising sophomore wing player in Indiana, went up for a dunk last month against Peru High School. As the video shows, he was badly undercut in a thuggish act by a coward on the opposing team. Etherington was hospitalized with bleeding on the brain and he had “temporary paralysis.”
Etherington’s OK now, but his major concussion will force him to miss the remainder of the season. His team won the game – his brother, Austin Etherington – scored 22 points and made the game-winning shot, but with the state tournament looming, the brothers will never play together again. Austin is headed to Indiana next year – he’ll be Cody Zeller’s roommate.
You can watch the video of it here: http://thebiglead.com/index.php/2011/03/04/cheap-shot-on-a-dunk-leaves-basketball-recruit-with-bleeding-on-the-brain-temporary-paralysis/#more-83409

Oh my goodness...that was tough to see.
Coming from the Chandler thread, I can't believe a fight didn't happen after this. If that had happened to one of my teammates I would have went off on the kid. Then you add in the fact that the kid's older brother was on the team too. Can't believe someone didn't take a swing at the kid.

It was tough to see (video clip) but after the game Alex was on Facebook and Twitter saying he will be fine..but apparently had bleeding in the brain---his brother (Austin) said he will be out 6 weeks from date of injury. As tough as it is for the kid, I believe it is good fortune nothing worse happened, because it very easily could have.

That was my first thought after watching that video.
